The Bonus Days Between Christmas and New Year's Day from Ocean City, New Jersey

You've had some wonderful days with family and friends from about December 24th through the 26th ... and you are looking forward to bringing in the New Year somewhere again with friends on December 31st and January 1st.  But you now find yourself with at least 4 or 5 days when business may be a bit slow, with the agency offices closed for some of the time, and with thoughts about the new year 2012.

It's my time to move along with a packet that I've been collecting since Thanksgiving as I now sit down and review all of my goal-collecting materials and information.  That includes some notes about books and vacations, information from the "Triple Play Realtor Conference in Atlantic City (NJ) for PA, NY, and NJ (one of the best across the country just below the National Realtor Convention), and other papers and thoughts that I've accumulated for my goal-setting.

I have an important home inspection coming up on Thursday so I will lose a big part of that day ... although my wife is away so I may spend some evening time on this effort.  Here is my plan:

(1) today (Tuesday) I will review everything for several hours and make some notes.  I already have made tentative vacation plans for the year (note:  this is the first time I've tried this) so I have blocked time for personal and family goals as well.

(2) tomorrow (Wednesday) I will work much more closely with my real estate goals by making some broad strokes to start and filling in some specific objectives as I move along (I've done all of this before).  But I'm planning to be much more detailed in my efforts for 2012 ... and also be much more inclined to review them on a monthly basis (that's new for me).  Finally, I plan to share all of this with my wife, my team leader (Keller Williams), and my real estate partner ... who I will also ask to occasionally review my work during the year (almost most brave and very new to my usual behavior).

(3) (Thursday) I will organize it around a manageable and meaningful draft that I will let sit for another day or two with my plan to have it written and typed on paper by January 1, 2011 (I've done this before, but not to the extent that I will do it this year).

(4) I don't plan to do this next idea this year, but I just read about it in this morning's Wall Street Journal.   I like the idea, but I plan to think about it a bit more in the coming year - so maybe next year.  What is it:  "it is the concept of letting a family member (in my case:  my wife and/or only son) or a friend or mentor (in my case: my real estate partner and/or my team leader) set several goals (maybe 3-5) for me for the coming year.  As I said before, I like the idea ... but I want to think about it.  Having read the "WSJ" article about it, there are some pros and cons that need some consideration by me before introducing the idea (maybe next year).

So I'm looking forward to getting started on January 1st because I've included a variety of personal (health-related and exercise goals), other family-type goals, and some other general ones too along with my real estate goal-planning.  I'll keep you posted during the year in my "Active Rain blog postings" (and I also have a goal here as well.  Wish me well and some luck too!!!            dap
