YOU MIGHT REALLY WANT TO TAKE A LOOK AT CENTRAL LOUISIANA
If you are not familiar with Central Louisiana, you really should give it some consideration. Louisiana is the most unusual State. There are actually 3 countries making up Louisiana. There is the Northern part which is so different from the Southern part. Then there is the Central Louisiana area. Central Louisiana is a mixture of both Northern and Southern Louisiana that makes a unique blend of a different world all together. Central Louisiana has some of the most beautiful areas available with different lakes, plantations, farming, and hunting, industries and colleges.
You can enjoy the fact that you don't have to drive for hours from your home to go hunting, fishing or just site seeing. The Central Louisiana area is steeped in history. One of the greatest places to visit is Kent House on Bayou Rapides. They have reenactments several times a year. If you are someone who loves searching the history of our country, all you have to do is make a short drive around Alexandria/Pineville, Bunkie, Cheneyville,or Natchitoches. Many of the older homes are still standing and many are still owned by the decedents of the original owners. There are still 200 year old oaks standing stately on many of the old Plantations. Many of the areas of Civil War Battles were fought in the areas of Central Louisiana.
Hunting and fishing is a sportsman's dream. There are many lakes that are only minutes away for you to enjoy fresh water fishing or camp sites where you can just sit and listen to the birds sing and watch the steam rise from the lakes early in the morning while you enjoy your first cup of coffee. If you don't want to catch your own supper, you can visit several of the area restaurants that specialize in steaks and seafood. Central Louisiana is also the proud owner of one of the fastest lakes in the United States. Beulow Lake is know for some of the record breaking times for speed boats.
Central Louisiana is growing. Louisiana State University of Alexandria has been made a 4 year college. Louisiana College is located just across the river in Pineville. You can pick up some of the classes you may need on the Northwestern campus at England Air Park.
If you need to fly into the area, there is the newly renovated air port at Alexandria International Airport. Also, there is a smaller air port at Fort Beulow in Pineville.
I could go on and on about the great things that Central Louisiana offers but you really need to visit and make your own memories.
