Keep America Beautiful Works with BellSouth to Help You Recycle Old Phone Books

Phone books are an essential resource for millions of consumers. But these books are made of materials that don't recycle as easily as newspapers, so you may need a little help figuring out how to recycle them. Keep America Beautiful is now working with BellSouth to give you the help you need.

Recycling your old phone book is an easy way to keep excess paper out of our community's landfills. The American Forest & Paper Association reports that more than 50 percent of the paper consumed in the United States in 2005 was recovered for recycling. But consumer use of paper also increased at the same time, so we need to continue to take the extra effort to recycle as much paper as possible - including phone books.

Anthony:

Thank you for sharing that with me!  I have worked with our Keep America Beautiful program for about 13 years - we have tried a number of incentives for our telephone book recycling projects over the years.  Our most successful ones have been when we promoted it through the school system and rewarded the students and teachers.  I appreciate your input, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with plugging your own blog...
