Defying Physics on the Freeway – Photo Fun

I got a photo of this guy tying the ladder back to the top of his truck.

Sometimes we just need to think about what we are doing.

Wishing and hoping that something will work out will not change the laws of nature.

I was just glad to be driving past him so that I was ahead of what may be a troublesome situation.

Ever try something crazy like this yourself?

Tom, I would like to say no, I have never done anything crazy like that, but it wouldn't be exactly truthful!  Have a Happy New year!

Tom: A few years ago my friend and neighbor's parents took a rare mid-day trip to center city Philadelphia to see a movie in town. They were on I95, a major interstate, and always high traffic through the city. The fellow in front of them had tied a storm door to the top of his station wagon, but apparently it wasn't secured very well. It came off, came flying at their vehicle and they were killed.

We all so take so many chances while driving or preparing to drive a 2 ton+ vehicle.  The picture is funny, but the thoughts of what can happen are not.

Whether it's talking/texting, drinking coffee or soda, eating lunch on the fly, shaving or applying make-up while driving, smoking, adjusting the Radio/CD player, or not securing items in/on our car or truck, may we all make a new year's resolution to be more careful and to limit/eliminate distracted driving and other behaviors on the road.

As you know from living in California, there's no shortage of stupid around here.  We see guys like this all the time, often hitting the freeway after loading up over-sized items from Home Depot on top of their cars or small pickups.  I love the ones that have a queen mattress on the roof of the car and someone is reaching up through the windows to hold on to it.

Have a great New Year Tom and try not to drive behind these goofballs.

It seems that maybe stupid is growing Doug, are they a protected class?

One of my favorites is the 2x4through the window, over the van seats and out the back of the open van back end. It reminds me of jousting

Being behind these guys is great for photo opps, but not good for safety.  :)

Happy New Year!
