It's always interesting to look back at which posts got the most traffic. Surprisingly, for 2011, many of my top blog posts were not about flooring...many were about SEO, social media and various stories.
For 2011, I have 18 posts with over 1,000 hits and 2 that have about 3,000 hits.
So here are the Top 10 sorted by # of clicks (meaning that someone actually opened the post
1. 7/10 3,024 Adding Google +1 button to your website
3. 7/16 1,860 I just had a customer ripped off by a mover
6. 12/11 1,504 Getting more backlinks...easily...by commenting on blogs
10. 5/23 1,074 Why do people wait until the last minute? A minor rant.
When I look back at the half year from 2010, I do have 5 other posts with 2,500 or more hits and my top 2 have 4,900 and 3,900, respectively (I'll need to do a separate post for the all time highs).
Many of my top flooring posts were reblogged, so this does not include the traffic for the reblogs. Also, some have some other versions on my wordpress site, so these #'s are a bit understated
Knowing this info is helpful because it helps you better focus on new blog topics. It also helps you prioritize which blogs to create more backlinks to and to rebroadcast on social media (I often do this via hootsuite). My philosophy has always been "spend to strength" or "feed the strong" so I will be looking for ways (especially on my flooring posts) to give them more play.
Have you looked at your Top 10 for the year?
