The 30th day of the Blogging challenge brought the last work day of 2011. The plan anyway is to take Day 31 off... so we will see how that works out. Today brought out the fruits of my labor. After working for over 2 months on each of 2 seperate sales, both which were supposed to close before Christmas closed today. Each brought seperate but just as tough challenges.
In the worst of the situations, the largest bank in the country continued to fumble with mistake after mistake after miscue after pure poor customer service. We were supposed to close the day before Christmas but the Loan Officer either overwelmed or under experienced made mistake after mistake. Finsally getting her manager he promised a closing date. Then the next day he went on vacation without telling us or assigning the loan to anyone else to handle. his boss was reached after a full day of calling every half hour. She picked it up and pretty much asked for everything all over again. We had it and sent it. As the buyer drove to NH from 2000 or so miles away, time was an essence to get them in their house. The seller dropped a bombshell that this has to close by 12/30/2011 or it is dead. they had enough.
The day we are expecting the closing package the manager did not show up for work and was fired. Now we had to start the phone game again, hitting every extension until we could reach a live person. Finally a live person, finally action, finally clear to close and finally the closing package arives at the Title Company and the buyer signed right under the wire and deadline of 5pm. The buyer was extremely happy, the seller was actually extremely happy and so was I.
Through the waiting in between closings the bank continued to call with more addresses of houses that were being auctioned in January that needed BPO's completed immediately. I was able to squeeze in checking and taking paicture of 5 houses in my travels.
As the week, month and year comes to a close... i am tired. It was the busiest week between Chriostmas and New Years in 25 years of Real Estate, it was the busiest month of December and the busiest year of sales since 2004. The hard work paid off with the smiles of those buyers yesterday.
Wishing you all Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year.
