Christmas TreeHow to Recycle/ Dispose of your Christmas Tree in Camarillo, CA 2011

Recycling your Christmas tree is easy! Simply place it (preferably cut into three-foot lengths) next to the tan yard waste barrel on your trash collection day for two weeks after December 25.

First, remove all decorative and metal items. If you prefer to enjoy your tree well into the New Year, it can still be recycled on subsequent collection days as long as it is cut to fit inside your ‘yard’ waste barrel.

Flocked or fire-proofed trees are not recyclable; please cut them into three-foot lengths and place in the green ‘trash’  barrel.

Camarillo solid waste customers are also allowed to put out double the weekly amount of trash at no additional charge for two weeks following Christmas. Please place your extra trash in plastic or paper bags next to the barrel.

For more information, please call the Recycling Division staff at (805) 388-5392.

Hi Sandy! Recycling your Christmas tree makes a lot of sense! We have places here that will mulch your tree, and then give you a bag of fresh pine bark mulch for your flower beds. Happy New Year!

Sandy -- Good local post. I saw a LOT of trees lying around at curbside today around my area. I will also have to look this up and maybe post this for my area. Good information. Thanks!

Hi Rose, Some of the cities do the mulch thing here too, but not the fresh pine bark bag to keep. I would really like that. Happy 2012!

Hi Barbara, Post it for your area. I have found that on some city websites, this info is buried way deep on odd pages. So your people might like an easy reference. Happy 2012!
