What started as a wish for a home office turned into a major project. Ouch, my aching back! December 30, 2011
This day was exciting to me. My handy man just finished installing the bamboo wood floor and assemblng our new bedroom furniture. That meant that we can finally sleep in our bedroom instead of on stacked matresses in the dining room.
But it also meant a lot of moving things around. Thank goodness for those fabulous gadgets called furniture “sliders” that made it possible for furniture to literally “glide”. My back would be in worse shape if it weren’t for them.
Memo to self: stick sliders in the bottom of every piece of furniture we have!
The bedroom was set up. So that meant moving the mattress back to the bedroom, a very heavy entertainment center back to the living room, and the rest of the furniture back where they belong.
From there, it meant going through every packed box, sorting, tossing, cleaning and putting away. I have several things to give away to Salvation Army, including rugs, throws, printer, shoe racks, sofa, books, CDs and cassettes, laptop cases, etc. I'm so pumped with the de-cluttering that the next project will be to go through my closet and pick clothes that I haven't worn in the past year, and donate those, too!
De-cluttering is so liberating!
It was 3 am by the time I rolled into bed. Aaahhhh....
The next morning, a sense of tremendous accomplishment enveloped me.
Looking at my new office gives me new inspiration and motivation to tackle the challenges of the year and beyond.
The next projects are a new office for Gary and a new kitchen for us. This will be a very busy and messy January.
But first, a little fun with friends New Year's eve.
