NEWBIE NEWBIE FIND A NEWBIE on ActiveRain Atlanta Metro ODAT Realty CDPE Advanced Buy Lease Sell Buckhead Atlanta GA
Remember when you first started and ActiveRain seemed so overwhelming- the technology, the writing, the groups, the idea of friends all over the country - not nominal “friends” but forming true and respectful friendships with folks you never met?
Being welcomed by a member of ActiveRain goes a long way for someone just starting out. How to get started? How do you find a newcomer?
One way is to go to the ROSTER - in the ABOUT section which is at the bottom of every AR page. You may select there by date and choose someone.
In 2006, Karen Hurst started a group called ACTIVERAIN NEWBIES. The group has over 12,000 subscribers and 79,000 posts!!! The guidelines for the group state: Do whatever you want in this group. Introduce yourself, ask questions. Go to ACTIVERAINMANUAL.COM for all your questions! Remember to come back here after you "graduate" and help others. Active Rain is all about helping others! Good Luck!
Other members feature blogs about NEWBIES from time to time. Charles Buell from Seattle recently posted a blog addressed to newcomers that became a Featured Blog with suggestions for success in the “Rain”.
From the other direction, some members suggest AR’ers reaching out to the newcomers. Russel Ray from CA has his own method for selecting the folks he wants to spotlight. Another example would be Tom Arstingstall, who posts a blog about a newcomer from time to time. Donne Knudsen, a loan consultant in CA writes about new members as well. Jerry Newman went so far as to sponsor a Contest for Introducing/Recognizing Newbies in November 2011. Jerry's idea was " ... to introduce, and promote our newest Active Rain members to encourage them to start blogging, or to blog more consistently. ... [By] asking our seasoned bloggers or any Active Rain member ... to seek out our AR Newbies.” Then there are some new members who post their own first blog there!
So, take your own path or follow what others have done! Your interaction will become a lifelong memory for the person to whom you say “WELCOME to AR”!
Have a happy day -
