Men Rejoice! New Home Building Trends Could Ease Your Wedding Registry Blues

SadFaceYou guys are always in the department store at the same time I'm there looking for a wedding gift.  You're usually along side your fiancé pretending to be happy -- jointly filling out the registry for your upcoming wedding.  Both of you are so easy to spot.  The beaming glow on your fiancé's face -- and the ‘please just kill me now’ look on yours.  Well, good news men!  Your days of being dragged along to pick out the fine china may soon be over.

According to a recent survey of National Association of Home Builders members, many believe that the formal dining room is on its way out.  In fact, by the year 2015, several
features which were once common and customary are predicted to be eliminated -- reflecting the changing wants and needs of future new home buyers.  But, don't worry guys.  Although new home building experts indicate that home variations are on the horizon, the article didn’t mention anything about doing away with “Man Caves.”

Just another reason to eat on the good china today!  So, what should we do with our good china?  Many of us have these exquisite, sentimental items packed away, hidden, never to see the light of day except on special occasions.  Why do we do that?  Why save the fancy stuff, only to enjoy our finer things when company comes over?  Life is short!  We should put on our best Sunday clothes and pull out the good dishes -- everyday!  We don’t need a formal dining room to appreciate the gifts in our lives anyway, right?

Well, I'm going to give it a try.  I wonder how Chinese take-out will taste on my grandmother's antique dishes?

Great to eat off of grandma's china.. chinese food works.. Life is short so why would you want to wait until??

I have found that saving fancy dishes is such a waste. More of my new clients building new homes are asking to remove the living room from their plans.. wasted space and requires expensive furniture. I am even seeing them used as a music room, or converted into a library. Great ideas all of them..

I do love your way with words though!

Janis:  Thanks!  Yes ... as you say, saving the fancy dishes is such a waste, yet many of us seem to do just that.  The special ocassions can be few and far between ... so why not enjoy the fancy stuff everyday, right?
