Acute Eye Care in Madison have decided to do a wonderful thing during this holiday season. They have started a drive to collect eyeglasses. They are trying to provide "gently used" eyeglasses to as many as 500 people through this drive.
Acute Eye Care announced this event as the center's first charitable project of this nature. The Madison center will accept used eyeglasses
through January 4, 2008 and will will make minor adjustments and repairs, such as replacing missing screws. They will then ship the eyeglasses in mid-January to the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
UAB students are planning a February trip to Central and South America, where they will distribute the glasses collected to people who need glasses but cannot afford them. If you have any old, outdated eyeglasses that you don't like, don't need, or don't wear anymore, then dust them off and donate them to the worthy cause.
Please note eyeglasses can be dropped off at Acute Eye Care during regular office hours. (Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., closed for lunch from noon to 1 p.m. and on Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to noon)
Acute Eye Care is located in Madison at 8089 U.S. 72, Suite A, next to Smokey's BBQ and Queen's Nails.
