When Life Happens...Trust your Agent

Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Indy NE 317-290-7775 www.marchantteam.com

You're going through a divorce, you just got notice you're being transferred, you got your first job and are ready to buy your first home.  These are all examples of life happening and at a time when you have a million other things on your mind, buying or selling a home and all the details that come with that is something you would just like to hand off.Hand Off  And just like in the relay race...when you hand off, the other person better be there to take over.

But how in the world can you do that; buying or selling a homes is one of the most major decisions you will make in your lifetime.

Who will navigate that process for you?  Who can be sure your best interests are protected?  Who can give you resources like lenders or a handyman to ensure a smooth transaction?  In essence, who can you trust?

Trust is often earned but many times it is just placed in the hopes of not being let down.  It is placed with a REALTOR that has demonstrated a knowledge of your market, understands your motivation and knows how to navigate the waters of Real Estate for you.  It is placed with a REALTOR that listens to you.  I often tell my buyers, "I want to sell you 'I gotta have that house' not 'this one would work' and I will wait for you to find that one".  It is placed with a REALTOR that will be honest with you; I often ask my sellers, "How honest do you want  me to be?" so that they know what comes out of my mouth next is the truth.  It is placed with a REALTOR that gauges their success not by how many dollars they sell but by how many times they are referred by a client because that client trusted them.

When you place your trust in me, I hope to hear I exceeded your expectations.  There will be times during the process where I will say, "you need to trust me".  And when you do, you will find that I am always on your side, protecting you, working for you, getting you from discussions to closing.  I won't convince you to buy a house you don't like,  I won't sell your house just to get the deal done.  I will work for you and at the end of the day, you will have started out placing your trust in me, but in the end I will have earned your trust....just as it is supposed to be.

This post is a submission to the ActiveRain / Adobe EchoSign Trust Contest. I could possibly win a prize. You can find out about the contest by clicking here

Good morning Cindy,

Yes life happens and we are often caught up in other's lives that get snarled! I just met with a past client with 4 kids (ages 5-11). Her husband turned abusive and they are divorcing...not a fun time but they need my help and I'll be there every step of the way!

Hi Cindy,

Nice Trust post.  Trust is such a delicate word.  Actually it's a strong word if you can gain it!!

Cindy- this is a great testimonial for trusting in your Realtor.  A great Realtor is worth their weight in gold- and then some.  Thank you for the boost this morning!  This should remind us all why we do what we do.

Cindy, That's probably one of the biggest perception issues to establishing that trust...."all agents just want me to buy a house quickly, even if it's not the right house for me".  We don't win raving fans by putting them in "just anything", but the one they love :)

Michael..indeed it does...

Dorie...I know you will be their trusted agent.

Sharon...you may be on to something there!

There were a lot of angles for this post on Trust...but yes...I agree with you Anita...that this was the most likely.

Hi Cindy #2...earning it makes it stronger for sure.

Glad to provide some sunshine this morning Jennifer!

Aw shucks...thanks Jared!

Great and wonderful job on the blog.  You captured the spirit and example of great trust.  It gets hard sometimes in our business with some that we meet, but most are good folks.

Well said, Cindy.  Your clients are coming from all sorts of different situations and to give you all their background information and financials and give you this task of finding such an important investment- shows considerable trust.

Anyway you look at it Cindy, trust still has to be earned and we start trying to earn that trust at the point of introduction.
