Spring will be here before you know it.  Get ready with help from Elin Haaga and Betsy Washington, George Washington Landscape Design instructors, presenting two lectures on Garden Design: "What Kind of Garden Do You Want?" and "Garden Bones." In this double session, look at and discuss different garden styles and learn how to create the structure of the garden: paths, patios, pergolas and more. 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. Green Spring Gardens. $35/person. Register online. For information call 703-642-5173.

Also on Saturday:

Airborne Comedians: Enjoy gravity-defying entertainment as the Airborne Comedians juggle electric guitars, lawn chairs and other seemingly non-juggleables. This pair is a sure bet to make you laugh. 8 p.m. McLean Community Center's Alden Theatre.  $20 ($15/McLean Community Center Tax District residents.) For information call 703-790-0123.

Woodpecker Watch: As they drum and drill on trees, woodpeckers are ridding our yards and woodlands of ants, wasps and grubs. Watch a variety of woodpeckers on the suet feeders at Huntley Meadows. Learn how to attract them to your yard and, hopefully, glimpse a flicker on its mission to eat 1,000 insects in a day! 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Huntley Meadows Park. $6/person. Register online. For information call 703-768-2525.

Volunteer Work Day: Spend a morning with Potomac Overlook staff and volunteers helping with indoor and outdoor projects. Reservations not required. 10 a.m. to noon. Potomac Overlook Regional Park. Free.  For information call 703-528-5406.
