Hi folks just sitting in the office on Sunday, I am the "duty cutie" today as we call it in the South and wondering where and what to do to increase business in this market. I have been in the real estate industry for 32 years now and it is the weirdest market that I have ever seen. I even survived the Jimmy Carter era of 19% to 22% interesst rates, but folks still purchased properties then.
Oh sure I have a few buyers which I am looking for the "perfect lake home" for but it is truly scary now that on such a beautiful day as we are having today and the phone is not ringing and there hasn't been any walk-ins so far today. I have trying to give support to some new agents in the business and they marvel at the fact that I have a couple of closings pending. It is very tough to be a new Realtor now and all of us old pros need to lend them a helping hand now or then. The amount of foreclosures in Georgia is a very scary thing and it is so sad that so many folks are losing their homes. I was reading on another blog today about a Realtor that said it wasn't about the commissions that we do this job and I agree, it is all about putting the right buyer and seller together and making everyone happy and their dreams of home ownership come true. In the old days before the internet, faxes, etc., I would sell a home or a piece of property and not know what the commission was at all before closing and believe me most of the time it was an incredible fun way to enjoy your job without worrying about your compensation. Of course closings were a lot closer together then, LOL.
I just wanted to voice my opinion on the upcoming presidential election. My prayer and hope is that America will not be stupid enough to put the Clinton thief, swinging, swindling twosome back in the White House. We do not need a socialist government and that is exactly what she is advocating for our great republic. I think it will be disastrous for our stock market, and our crippled housing market. If she takes away from the wealthy and spreads it out among the general population through the different welfare and government programs as she is talking about now it will be another bad period for a long time for the real estate and mortgage industry and our overall economy. The rich is what fuels our market now, the investors that are willing to loan funds for the housing industry, etc. In our market the only homes that are really moving now are usually in the $700k to $1 million plus homes. The small builders building in the $120k to $300k are going into foreclosure and there is an abundance of homes in that price range and no buyers now.
So I hope and pray that we can get a good honest, God fearing, man to run our nation and keep the dignity in the White House. It is embarrassing to think that America would elect and put back into office a family that only brought corruption and embarrassments to our nation. I never will forget when all of this was going on and my grand son was visiting me and we had the national news on and they were discussing Clintons oral sex with Monica and my grandson ask me a question that took my breath away after the news broadcast was over, Mama T what is oral sex??? Needless to say, they don't have my vote, not quite sure who does yet, but she does not fit what I think the criteria should be that we need to hopefully bring this country back together.
