How To Repair Leaky Duct Work!

NOT like this!

Kroger grocery store plastic bags & cloth duct tape are not generally consider an acceptable means of repairing duct work!  Well, except by whoever repaired this leaky duct.

Erby The Lexington Kentucky Home Inspector Duct Work Repair

Of course, you couldn't prove that by looking at the duct work in the house I was doing a Lexington KY Home Inspection in this afternoon.

I think the current owners are a little angry about the thorough inspection you did. They didn't have one done and it cost them $18K.  I, my loan officer and my agent think a home inspection is well worth what I paid.

Thank You for the outstanding job you did on the inspection.  We bought and sold 9 houses and this was the only inspection that was ever done properly.  It was helpful and we will use it to do the repairs with a system, instead of the guess work we usually do.  Thanks again

That is probably how it would get done around my house if I was doing it. NOT really. Have you seen all the different colors they now have of duct tape? I even saw a whole big display of the different colored rolls at a craft store.

It does come in a LOT of different colors now, doesn't it, Debbie.

It's handy as a temporary repair only.

Unfortunately, a lot of people turn it into a permanent repair thing!

These are one of those things that drive me crazy. Lots of energy loss in most ducts as it is.

Now Robert.  Kroger ensures that they use quality bags that will hold the air inside the ducts just fine.

Erby,  Well they call it duct tape, should do the trick right??? I'm only kidding! But seems like some people fix anything with this special tape.

It's a great temporary fix.  Just not permanent.
