After the big controversy about the long-standing community garden in Arvada, I'm keeping my eyes open for good news about community gardens.
I came across an announcement on the website for the City of Arvada, about an organic community garden at Alkire and 83rd called 'Rose Roots'. Pre-registration is Sunday (January 15, 2012), at 3:30, in The Depot at the Village of Five Parks. Plot fees are $75, be prepared to pay at the meeting to reserve a plot.
It's a potluck, they say to bring your favorite farm food to share.
I don't see any contact information on the announcement and can't find a website. The logo for Denver Urban Gardens is on the announcement so I went to their site, but don't see any mention of it. I'd like to provide that info, because I did see a couple places where the date is listed as January 13, but the middle of a Friday afternoon would be an odd time, so I'm thinking the 15th is correct.
Here's a video about a CSA in Arvada, called Star Acre Farms. For more info on Star Acre Farms you can contact Jackie Raehl. jackie@staracrefarms.com .
