Kerrie Greenhalgh and her transformation to Green Transportation

Our lovely community builder has gone green, and she is DRIVING US NUTS.  Kerrie purchased a backpack so she can fit in with the bus people in Seattle.  She carries a little umbrella in her backpack, her bus pass, lipstick, keys, her nanno, and her nook.

She is one week in! She is transfixed by the fact that her ORCA card is a block of plastic that is swiped, and she doesn't have to pay cash. She revealed this to us on Friday morning and she was very excited that there is no money changing hands.

We took an office bet on how long she would last with her new found dedication to the environment. So far we have two to three weeks, and shorter with inclement weather, grumpy people, or a bus break-down.

Here are some of the considerations: Her bus has not broken down yet, her bus has not bypassed her because it is full, she has in her first week been able to sit down on her commute.  All these variables may impact her abilit to the stay the course, and stay green.

Kerrie lives on the other side of Lake Washington, and she decided to committ to green this year. How long do you think she will last?

I think that if she knows there is a pool going and that people are betting against her, that she won't quit! Just sayin' ya know? Kerrie is not a quitter!!

Kerrie -- glad you have the option of using the bus.  In my previous job, people in my office who lived near me had a 2 hour commute, when they used the bus.  The 30-40 minute drive for me, to cover the same distance, and the fact that my hours fluctuated, meant bussing was not an option.  Unfortunately, for those of your mindset living in Pierce County, Pierce County Transit is in midst fo cutting back bus and transit service from large areas of the county.

Robert, Kerrie has a special transportation party pack. We have also discussed her emergency bus survival kit too.  She is prepped for all eventualities! It still won't last-one rotten week of  rain and it will be over!
