Perseverance
We all have heard the these phrases, "Never give up!", and "If at first you don't succeed try and try again!". But do we actually apply them to our lives? It is so easy to loose heart when we are going through trials. It's even easier to forget that God still has a plan for our lives. We see trials and difficult experiences as detours. But in reality these "detours" are what enables us to live our lives to the fullest. We learn more about ourselves when we learn to fully rely on God during difficult times. We often question God, "Why am I going through this?", "Is this really necessary?". But if we take a step back and realize how much closer we have grown to God during these trials, we begin to realize why he has allowed us to experience them.
The way we handle difficult experiences in our own lives is our biggest witness. When people around us see our contentment, they begin to understand God. They see the peace that God has given us and the joy that remains in us despite disappointments. It is a very freeing experience to give every area of your life to Christ. When you don't hold back, you begin to experience peace beyond comprehension.
Although you may not be aware of it, the way you handle hurdles in your life have an enormous impact on those around you. They begin to wonder where the source of your contentment and joy is coming from. Our contentment is an expression of our faith in the goodness of God. How can we lead others to Christ, if we ourselves don't have faith in the plans that God has for our lives?
The definition of faith is described as- the evidence of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen. When we have faith in Christ it shows others we understand that Christ holds our future, and we have chosen to believe in His promises for our lives. And that has given us peace and contentment. God has already promised to provide us with all of the things that we need. If we have faith in His Word, then why do we doubt Him? Why do we worry?
When you begin to find yourself getting discouraged, don't lose faith in the promises that God has for your life. Persevere in patience, knowing that Jesus has taken the wheel. We are His passengers, and we are only along for this ride of life to reach our final destination of eternity with Him!
Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Then you will call upon Me and go pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for me with all your heart."
