Copyright Protection For Photos - Batch Processing

By

I have a superb camera (Canon 60D) and take some terrific pictures (ok... my camera takes the terrific pictures).  I would like to place a Copyright logo (watermark) on my photos, but I don't like that I have to open each photo in photoshop and add the Copyright mark.

My question for the AR photo masters...  Is there a program which will add a copyright mark (watermark) to multiple photos at the same time (and if possible, resave with the new marks)?

Capital Dome Washington DC
Dome of the Capitol Building in Washington, DC. (It's a picture of George Washington surrounded by several supermodels of the period).

Library Of Congress

That's an interesting question. How would you know that the watermark is placed where you want it?

Cameron, Picassa which is a free photo program from Google has a very easy program to place the copyright watermark on your photos. Once you set it up, you merely check a box as to whether you want the water mark and export photos into another file.  You can do batch processing and it does not change the original photo so you still have it untouched for future uses.  This sounds like great material for a future post so I will try to put together a tutorial soon.

Lindsay... I'd just want it on the far corner (maybe I could determine where the default position would be?).

Bill... thanks for stopping by.

Gary - Thanks for the input.  I'll check out Picassa.  I've heard of it several times, but until now, had no reason to check it out.  You get the big thumbs up for answering this question.

EVERYONE ELSE - I'd still like to know if there are other options for this action.

Cameron, Hi. FastStone is another free program that I use for everything; resizing, batch renaming, and watermarks.  Love the photo from Washington D.C. Capitol.  Here is the one I took from the Illinois State Capitol.Illinois State Capitol Rotunda, Springfield, Illinois

Hi Cameron,

If Picassa doens't work for you then you may want to try lightroom by adobe.com . It's not cheap or free but it is the best tool I recomment amateur photographers for quickly editing images without having to deal with Photoshop. Check the software that came with your camera, it might do the job of watermarking images.

Compupic is another tool I've used in the past: http://www.photodex.com/compupic

Good Evening Cameron:

Excellent photos...I have used the Picassa to put watermark on my pictures, not for copyright purposes, but rather to label them. I don't think it does batch processing.  It is free though

Picasa does allow batch updates to add the copyright to multiple photos, but it doesn't allow any customization of the text color or location.  I know I may be looking for the impossible...
