 The Golden Rule

Do to others as you would have them do to you!

Sharing the love!

It's in Black and White as it should be.

No fine gray line, you are on the edge of crossing.

It's clear and easy for anyone to understand.

I LOVE my Active Rain family!

I have read SOOOOOOOO many blog posts in the Active Rain, and still have not stumbled upon a single post where The Golden Rule has been broken. I'm sure some are out there, but happily I have not found any.

I LOVE the RESPECT that members have for each other.
I LOVE how HELPFUL members are to one another.
I LOVE the ENCOURAGEMENT everyone gives.

We are fortunate that the Active Rain Guidelines clearly require "Respect" and enforce those guidelines. I am a member of a couple of other forums, where that is not the case, and actually I am almost terrified to post anything on them.

On the "other" forums I'm referring to, almost ALWAYS my posts come under attack or are "challenged" in some way. I have taken a post from AR where all the comments were wonderful and put the same post on another forum and been torn to SHREDS by the members.

It's refreshing to have a place like Active Rain to speak freely, share, and learn, without fearing a verbal attack.

THANK YOU ACTIVE RAIN!

Do unto others

An excerpt from the guidelines:

Respect the ActiveRain Community

Being a part of any community requires a certain level of trust. Don't abuse the site or your fellow members. By joining the ActiveRain community you are given a platform to present your ideas and opinions to a large number of people. We trust you to be responsible with that platform; thousands of other ActiveRain members are also counting on your trustworthiness.

  • The ActiveRain community and real estate industry as a whole will only be respected to the degree of character represented by the actions of its professionals. Do not conduct yourself in a way that disgraces your fellow members on this network.

I just posted a blog that probably will invoke a little bit of whiplash. BRING IT ON, I say. I can take it!

Having said that, I once spent hours writing a blog post and rewriting it and rewriting it again so as not to offend anyone only to never post it all!

Conversely, there is an alternate version of the Golden Rule: Do not unto others as you would not have them do unto you. Sounds the same but it's really not. It not just about what you do, but also about what you refrain from doing.

Have an amazing day!

I love the honest the activerain community gives me. This is one of the few places where I can post something and if someone doesn't have something nice to say they either don't say it or sugar coat it. I appriciate others following the golden rule bc I try to run my business by it!

Lori, It's tough at times....but we sometimes have to address tough issues. It just might take some delicate wording and finesse to get the point across. LOL!

TWT, Me too! I try too! I don't mind adding a little sugar. :)

Cheryl - although I have seen some posts where the interaction between the author and those commenting   can get rather spirited, I believe the overall tone of Active Rain is professional.   It is certainly a format where you can read and learn something new everyday if you are open to ideas.

Cheryl I agree Active Rain is a great place to make real friends, vent, talk, discuss, learn and make great connections.  I read blog after blog daily too but have found not all play fair.  Just like kids on the school playground there are always some rule breakers. I have great respect for my fellow Rainer's who go the distance but have no regard and disassociate myself from the bad kids on the block.

Michael, Yes I've read some spirited interaction too. LOL! So much great learning!

John, Luckily I haven't met up with the bad boys yet. I did VENT a little lot the other day, but it was a WELL Deserved venting! LOL! I wonder if I should delete it now that I've settled down a little...Hmmmmm? I sorta hid it in a GROUP post. LOL!
