My Very First Blog - Getting Rid of the Clutter

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Advantage Realty

A client from Vancouver called and asked me to sell her father's condo in Toronto.   I said, of course, I would be glad to help.  The next day I met her at his place.  What I saw was horrifying... Actually, more to the point was what I couldn't see:  the counters, the floors, the tables, the closets, the shelving.  There was so much clutter that you basically couldn't see ANYTHING!!   I told her that before we could even think of listing the unit we had to de-clutter it.   For four days the two of us worked at getting rid of anything and everything that wasn't absolutely needed.  We made dozens of trips to the recycling and garbage bins and as many trips to Goodwill.  Then, with a fresh coat of paint and clean carpets, the condo looked gorgeous and ready to sell.

Potential Buyers may have a hard time seeing what could, under better circumstances, be the right place for them.   They are so busy looking at the Seller's "stuff" that they can't see the unit itself.  So, if you're looking to sell your home, get rid of everything!

I will help organize and de-clutter your home.  It's all part of my service.  I want you to get the most money you can and attract the most potential buyers possible... and I am more than willing to help you make your home spotless and clutter free!

Thank you for reading my very first blog!  Also, thanks to Elyse Berman of Delray Beach, Florida, for inviting me to join Active Rain.  If you have pets and are looking for a place to live in South Florida, Elyse is the one to call.  And thanks to Kristi and Abe at Active Rain for helping me get my blog going.

I'll write again soon!

Congrats on your first blog!

Clutter is very distracting to buyers! Glad your seller listended and did what needed to be done! All that hard work will pay off.

Congratulations on your first blog.  What a great service to offer your sellers by helping them declutter.  It's that point of difference that we need to set us apart, and AR is one of those things as well.

Happy blogging!

Julie,  Your very first post looks great!  I'm so proud of you for taking the first step in blogging.  De-cluttering is so important.  It's much easier for buyers to visualize themselves living in the home if they can actually see the home!

I'm sorry to hear about your soaker tub (or lack of), Julie. And I hate to say it, but it might be hard to get a bigger one in there - deeper perhaps, but not longer or wider. Have a great day!!

DeCluttering can be hard for people who have been in their home for few years. To older sellers who've lived in a home for their entire adult life, it may feel impossible. Add to it emotional resistance they are experience. I'd recommend to start one room at a time or bring a professional stagger or space organizer.
