January 12, 2012 and it still feels like Fall in the Mountains of Franklin, NC

It is suppose to snow here in Franklin, NC and surrounding areas.  It is snowing all around me in places like Cowee, Burningtown and even in the town of Franklin.  I live just south of town in the community of Clarks Chapel and have not seen a single flake yet.

Now this is the first time since I an remember that we have gotten this far into winter and the tempetures are still Yes it snows in Franklin, NCmild and it feels like Fall.  Yes, Franklin, NC has had some cold mornings but it has been warming up to the 50s during the day.  Don't mind that at all.  I don't care for winter but its nothing like up north.

Macon County Franklin, NC does get snow in the winter a few times a year.  It is very pretty to see but nicer to see it leave.  We don't have snow tire we change into like up north.  We don't have anyone come down our road and plow, its private gravel road.  The main paved roads get scraped or salted first and if we are lucky it may be a day or two before they come back here.  Even then I have to be able to get to the main road.

I brought all my work home and I am ready for it to snow in Franklin, NC.  Where is it?

June - it has been a warm winter, even here in the North, but as a skier I can't wait until it snows - it's the only thing I love about winter and at this rate there be no ski season. I'm sure as a biker (which you know impresses me so much) you love the warmer temperatures! Hope you're getting out and riding!

June we're experiencing a colder and dryer winter than normal in the Albuquerque area.  We just never know what good ole Mother Nature has in store for us so we roll with her punches.

June....LOVE the picture...as long as it's a picture!!

The only way I want to see that kind of snow is at a ski resort...and I don't even ski anymore! I'd just hang by the fire with a good book!

Hope your New Year is off to a great start. And I KNOW we will see you in April for RETSO, right? You simply must come. It will knock your socks off compared to Rain Camp.

Hugs!

Enjoy this mild weather June. It's not typical for it to be this warm in January in the mountains of NC. And, as beautiful as the snow may be, it's nice to be warm instead!

When we were kids my family moved from Florida to Brevard.

That Winter, it snowed 16" overnight.   We ran outside in our pajamas yelling and screaming!

June, we had some flurries a day or so ago, but nothing that stuck.  I don't miss having to keep snow tires around...when I lived in Kansas City they used to allow chains...don't know if they still do.  Anyway, I like snow and miss it.

Hi everyone,  the snow didn't last but about a half a day and I was out and about.  Very mild weather for the mountains so far this year.

June--Is that your house above?  Lovely setting.  We had three inches and temps in low to mid-20's but today it was 38 and sunny.  Go figure.
