RSS Feeds

This is the first (probably not the last) blog I have written in which I'm LOOKING for information.  I've recently discovered the need to add a feature to my web marketing efforts.  The capability of an RSS feed for keeping updated info on my blogs, sites, profiles and other web pages is another step I need to make to ensure I'm keeping my audience abreast with current reliable information.  I'm currently scowering the internet for information relevant to this need for new technical info.   As you are probably aware, I'm reading a lot of worthless info in the process.

This brings me to my point.  Is there any one out there who has recently installed RSS feeds to their web site?  Please keep in mind that I do all of my web work and need some technical info that I've been unable to find as of yet.  For example, i need to know how implement the feed in to my .php pages from a "code" standpoint.  I know what an RSS feed is and how it works, but where do I get info explaining the html requirements for me.

Aaron - Great question.  I too have been trying to add an RSS feed to my website that I also maintain, but I need the html code so I can add it into the web page.  It's got to be similar to embedding a You Tube video, but I can't figure it out.  Help fellow AR'er.  I know someone knows how to do this.  Looking forward to reading how to do this too!

It would be nice if the internet wasn't clogged with info that leads you in the wrong direction huh?  I'm assuming it's a code also.  I'm looking to use custom RSS feed to upload only my blogs, you?

Have you figured it out?  I'm looking for the same thing and just came across your post.  Please share if you have figured it out.  Thanks.

Have not thought about RSS feeds since this post but I think Wordpress is a good route to take.  So many sites use Wordpress for their IDX needs and while this may or may not be the best method, it offers different companies/capabilities to your network.  Mix it up is all I'm saying.  There are numerous combinations of technology-providers to consider.  If you were to use another vendor, Wordpress would be a good fit for the feeds.  If you use Wp for the feeds, maybe you should use another IDX vendor, like IDX Broker.  Don't put all of your eggs in one basket is all I'm saying.  Use different sites and options instead of doing everything in WP or .html, .php etc...

I have some more info on this subject.  I wound up going with blueroof360 for our IDX needs and they had a widget that adds a parser to the site.  This has enabled my site to automatically upload my blogs as I write them.  The site is not finished, but if you would like to see the RSS feed setup, you can click through this link <a href="http://www.condoinvestment.com"> Gulf Shores Real Estate </a> and go to the property search link on the homepage.

XML2U.com can provide an RSS of your listings and the code that simply needs pasting into the html of your webs page. The RSS contains your property listings drawn directly. It's as simple as ordering a feed and pasting the code.
