12th Annual Bowl of Beans Dinner, Arcata, Humboldt County, California

The City of Arcata Recreation Division with Arcata Elementary School holds the 12th Annual Bowl of Beans Benefit on Monday, Jan. 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Arcata Community Center,321 Community Park Way.

This benefit honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and benefits local youth.

Enjoy a dinner of rice and beans from 5 to 6:30 p.m. followed by musical performances and storytelling.

Admission is $6.00 at the door with proceeds benefiting Arcata Recreation’s Arts in the Afternoon Program and Arcata Elementary School’s Art Program.

Raffle tickets are available at the event or at the Recreation Division Office with great prizes donated by local businesses.

Buy beautiful ceramic bowls made by youth in the Arts in the Afternoon Program.

The Arcata Community Center is located just off Highway 101.  Take Highway 101 North to the first Arcata exit and go east on Samoa Blvd. to the first 'round about'.  Then go North and take a left at the first stop sign.

This is an important event to support Arcata youth programs.

Hi Dan,

This sounds like a great way to help the local youths.

When ever we have the chance to go to the local schools for a benefit dinner we go.

We try to support our local schools as much as possible.

Dan,

A benefit to Dr. King and the proceeds going to help youth go hand in hand in my opinion. I think Dr. King would be proud. What a great idea to raise money for the area youths.

Dan: We can't do enough to support youth programs in this economy.  A tie-in to the memory and the values of Dr. King is wonderful. Can't think of a better way to celebrate MLK Day.
