Who Are You Cheering For This Weekend? I Need A New Team!

By

CheeringAnyone who knows me knows how much I love sports!  Especially this time of year.  If I'm hanging out with friends on a Sunday, I'm very easy to spot.  That's me over there -- with all the guys, in the den, screaming at the television!  Except, I don't have anyone to cheer for again this weekend.

It sure is lonely being a Chicago sports fan.  I grew up in Chicago and trust me -- Chicagoans take their sports very seriously.  It's practically another religion in that town.  But, we haven't had a Super Bowl winning team since 1985.  The Chicago Bulls haven’t won an NBA Championship since Michael Jordan’s 2nd retirement.  And, don’t even get me started on the Cubs.  Those "Loveable Lovers" have been breaking hearts for the past 103 years!

Being in Dallas, I had high hopes of cheering for a postseason football team.  No dice.  Heck ... the Dallas Cowboys aren't even considered America’s team anymore.  Green Bay Packers have allegedly taken over that illustrious distinction and in good conscience, I can't cheer for them either (arch rivalry with the Chicago Bears spanning almost 100 years.)

So, what's a girl to do?  I guess I can always pick the team with the cutest quarterback or the prettiest uniforms.  After all,  I am still a girl.

Carie,

You are welcome to join the Tebow train.  If nothing else he has made football in Denver fun again.  It might even make sense in that we gave Chicago a quarterback because of Tebow.  Regardless hope you have a fun week end. Win or lose we have every intention of just having a good time.

Steve:  Oh, yeah ... that Cutler guy :)

I've heard all about the "Tebow Train" and a lot of people are boarding it, that's for sure!

Hi Carie - Sounds like you're ready for 90 minutes of non-stop action, unimpeded by commercials or referee's stupid calls, the most highly-conditioned athletes anywhere, and true skill and grace. I'm talking about real football - the one where you use your feet - and if you're looking for a team, I'd recomend Barcelona (GOL-TV on most cable systems), where Lionel Messi is rapidly becoming the best player of the game..ever, and doing it with class and intelligence.

Dick:  Yes ... I may have to switch from watching "football" to watching "football" :)  Thanks, I'll check it out!

Just the same thing I mentioned to Michael today. Now that it ended for the Cowboys, we got to find a new team to cheer on. I chose Denver Broncos. I'm a big Tim Tebow fan.

Loreena:  Uh Oh!  Looks like we're back where we started again!  I'm thinking about San Francisco ... their coach used to be the quarterback for the Chicago Bears.  It's a stretch, I know :)

Everyone I was going to cheer on is also gone. But, I'm used to it as I am a Red Sox fan and had to get grief from my son this year who is a Cardinals fan. (Who saw that coming?)

Todd:  You're lucky ... at least the Red Sox finally ended their drought at 86 years.  Cubs are 103 years and counting .... :)
