As some of you may already know, I am a Newbie here -- having been a member of ActiveRain for all of 3 months. Lately, I’ve been reading a lot of posts dealing with a variety of controversial issues. Some of these blogs address the discovery of scandalous behavior. Others address complaints about and dissatisfaction with perceived flaws in the ActiveRain system. Still others express disturbing patterns emerging, whereby agents are attacking other agents by posting mean-spirited blogs and comments. Phew! As an ActiveRain novice, I have found all of this information to be a bit unsettling and a little overwhelming. Nevertheless, regardless of how uncomfortable all of this has been, it doesn't affect my devotion to and support of this tremendous network of people – or should I say – my new ActiveRain family.
I won’t let the bad people win. And, there are always going to be bad people. Everyday. Everywhere. This is a sad fact of life, and a painful lesson I have learned from my own life experiences. What I have also learned is that you cannot let those people distract you from your goals and your life's purpose. Scammers, cheats, and frauds will always be around – and always thinking of new and improved ways to be ... well ... scammers, cheats, and frauds. That's how they approach life. And, there will always be people who complain and find fault with everything. People who are angry, envious, or otherwise unhappy. Again, that's how they approach life. None of these ne'er-do-wells fit harmoniously into my life nor my life's purpose. They're just an unavoidable part of my life -- that's all.
I recognize the value of being an ActiveRain member. Some may not see the same value -- and that’s okay with me. "Agree To Disagree" are the very words I try to live by. Several years ago, the term "It Takes A Village" was spotlighted to promote the impact of individuals and groups on the wellness of children. I also think it is an appropriate term to promote the positive impact this ActiveRain network has had on me. And, from the many comments I have read over the last couple of days, I think there are many others that would agree.
As an ActiveRain Newbie, I’m sure there are other Newbies carefully reading these same blogs too. Perhaps they are wondering if they’ve made the right decision to spend their valuable time here. I can’t answer that for them. However, as a newcomer, I can offer my own perspective to assist them with their decision. Maintaining the integrity and future growth of ActiveRain is important to me. Personally, I can’t even begin to describe how much I have gained from being here. But, one thing I know for sure. Nobody can take that away from me!
