Nobody Can Kill My Newbie ActiveRain Buzz

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with North Shore Suburbs & Chicago Real Estate

ExcitedWomanAs some of you may already know, I am a Newbie here -- having been a member of ActiveRain for all of 3 months.  Lately, I’ve been reading a lot of posts dealing with a variety of controversial issues.  Some of these blogs address the discovery of scandalous behavior.  Others address complaints about and dissatisfaction with perceived flaws in the ActiveRain system.  Still others express disturbing patterns emerging, whereby agents are attacking other agents by posting mean-spirited blogs and comments.  Phew!  As an ActiveRain novice, I have found all of this information to be a bit unsettling and a little overwhelming.  Nevertheless, regardless of how uncomfortable all of this has been, it doesn't affect my devotion to and support of this tremendous network of people – or should I say – my new ActiveRain family.

I won’t let the bad people win.  And, there are always going to be bad people.  Everyday.  Everywhere. This is a sad fact of life, and a painful lesson I have learned from my own life experiences.   What I have also learned is that you cannot let those people distract you from your goals and your life's purpose.  Scammers, cheats, and frauds will always be around – and always thinking of new and improved ways to be ... well ... scammers, cheats, and frauds.  That's how they approach life.  And, there will always be people who complain and find fault with everything.  People who are angry, envious, or otherwise unhappy.  Again, that's how they approach life.  None of these ne'er-do-wells fit harmoniously into my life nor my life's purpose.  They're just an unavoidable part of my life -- that's all.

I recognize the value of being an ActiveRain member.  Some may not see the same value -- and that’s okay with me.  "Agree To Disagree" are the very words I try to live by.  Several years ago, the term "It Takes A Village" was spotlighted to promote the impact of individuals and groups on the wellness of children.  I also think it is an appropriate term to promote the positive impact this ActiveRain network has had on me.  And, from the many comments I have read over the last couple of days, I think there are many others that would agree.

As an ActiveRain Newbie, I’m sure there are other Newbies carefully reading these same blogs too.  Perhaps they are wondering if they’ve made the right decision to spend their valuable time here.  I can’t answer that for them.  However, as a newcomer, I can offer my own perspective to assist them with their decision.  Maintaining the integrity and future growth of ActiveRain is important to me.  Personally, I can’t even begin to describe how much I have gained from being here.  But, one thing I know for sure.  Nobody can take that away from me!

Drama is part of life....we can't let it affect us. We can respond and react when necessary....but then go on with our lives. We are the only people whose opinion should matter to us.

Carie, I will have a one year anniversary towards the end of January and can safely say that it has changed many parts of my life.  I have met so many wonderful people and have even had a couple of phones calls from some.  Made my day, my week, my year, how fortunate.  There is so much to gain and nothing to lose and the learning never stops.  Negative people are their own worst enemy how sad for them, we have a choice do we not?  Welcome to Active Rain.

We all have the ability to focus our attention where we please. Some will always focus on the cheats, scammers, frauds and other creeps.

Some, like you, choose to focus attention on people who are here to be giving, sharing, helpful, and entertaining.

I'm with you!

Carrie, you have got to be doing something right to get 7 featured blogs. For the other things, some post trigger comments that may not bring the best response, I for one like a little controversy. I read a lot of posts all with the same opinions at times, to me it's a bit too sugary, unless that is what the intent is suppose to be.

I am still very new here as well.  I have been on Active Rain since about August.  There is a great deal that can be learned here on Active Rain.  I am still in my first year of real estate as well.  It has been about 10 months now.  I am finally starting to get some good clients and write some offers.  I am looking forward to what the year 2012 has in store.

Marte:  Focusing on the good things ... that has always worked out the best for me :)

Winston:  And that's exactly what is so great about AR ... there is something for everybody!

Rocky:  I'm glad to hear that things are starting to happen for you ... sounds like you're off and running!  Good luck to you in 2012!

I just read a comment that seemed to insult a member. It does not make sense to me. Oh well. I am here to learn and hopefully give out information that can be used by someone!
