Katy Autism Support (KAS) group holds local meeting
I have written a previous blog about this group but I believe it is a very important organization to make public and support. I plan to raise this group’s existence with my Broker at Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate in as a potential charity for us to support.
The KAS meets the third Tuesday of every month. The group will discuss many issues with teaching and raising a child afflicted autism disorders as they apply to the local area. Child care is available for free but it must be reserved 24 hours in advance E-mail the request to email@example.com. The programs are Free and are being held at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church. St Peter’s is located at 20775 Kingsland Dr. in Katy Texas 77450. The date is Tuesday January 17, 2012 begins at 7:00 PM and ends at 9:00 PM.
Per the group’s web site “Autism is a disorder that is diagnosed based on behaviors we see on the outside. Currently, there are no medical tests, such as laboratory tests for biomarkers, which lead to a diagnosis of autism. Atypical behaviors or developmental delays in speech, learning and the ability to play and interact with others are hallmarks of autism. Here are some of the warning signs of autism according to the National Autism Association”.
The Support group is open to parents, educators in Katy ISD and all professional who work with children affected with autism. Their primary mission is to provide support to families of those affected by this disorder
The medical community has and will continue to be at its infancy in trying to understand or develop programs to deal with autism. This disorder I am sure can become totally over whelming for families who are new to facing its reality. All families and people afflicted with this disorder need help and understanding from the community.
