Hotchkiss Field, Prospect CT, Offering Recreation for All Seasons

Located at the just off the center of Prospect on Waterbury Rd is Hotchkiss Field. This town managed recreation area was a gift of the Hotchkiss family, who donated a portion of their farm for the 'Public Good.'

Here in good weather you can find people relaxing on the many fields. Others walk, or jog on the cindered track which runs for a full mile, although there are smaller loops for the less ambitious.

Just off the main entrance and parking lot are the basketball courts, where there is always somebody looking for a quick pick-up game.

There are several soccer fields which are always loaded with ‘footballers’ of all ages on weekends.

With a grove of trees and tables positioned underneath, a warm picnic is a possibility while the kids play in the park.

Field of Dreams sits at the back of the soccer fields. This is a play-scape created with funds donated by the businesses in Town. It’s completely child friendly and the only problem would be gathering the kids to leave.

For the winter months, an ice skating area is located at the rear of the complex. The signs at the entrance of the park let all know when the skating is permitted.

Hotchkiss Field, Prospect CT, and oasis of outdoor fun for all.

Bravo to the Hotckess family and the local businesses.  This looks like a popular place for families to hang out.

Very nice of the Hotchkiss family to donate to the community Ed.  Sounds like a place Raphael would like to go to.

Joan, the parcel was a part of their farm and the original homestead sits just outside the park.

Hi Al & Peggy, he does and can get lost there for hours if allowed

I love it, doesn't get cold enough here to put up an ice rink, but that would be awesome. I bet the public really enjoys that.
