Postage Stamp Increase - January 22, 2012

Thanks to Joan for alerting us on this - I sure hadn't heard about it!

Guess it's time to go stock up on some of those "Forever Stamps." For me it's not such a big deal, but if you're sending out a lot of prospecting letters, buying at least a few months' worth of forever stamps is just a small way to keep your budget under control.

OH wow, Thanks for the tip. I just bought 100 stamps. The lady in the post office said they were forever even if rates increase. Funny she didn't say 1/22 they're going up. I would have bought more.

Mike - I hadn't heard about it until today, and I was in the post office talking to the Postmaster on Thursday. Guess they don't want to mention it because people WILL stock up.

Mitchell - You still have a little time.

Jeff - That's right, pennies add into dollars!

What "gets" me is that the post office is supposed to be broke. But my postal mailbox keep receiving expensive advertising from them. This isn't some cheap flyer printed from a computer - these are full color "magalogs" telling me all about the success that some people have using direct mail in their business.

OK _ Maybe it would make sense to send those to major companies that may be slacking off on postal mail in favor of email.

But I gotta tell you... the folks out here in the woods on Blue Lake Road are not the candidates to whom you should pitch your system for massive bulk mail campaigns. Shoot - I'm the only one on this road who has a business and does any marketing whatsoever. Everyone else is retired!

Joan - I hadn't either, but I don't watch much TV. My husband does, however. And my neighbor is a news junkie who reports the highlights to us almost every day. You'd think one of them might have seen it and mentioned it.

Call a Marana neighbor, I'm THERE! LONG REALTY

With techological advances into communication, snail mail has really taken a hit.  I wonder how the post offices afford to run.  I figured a price hike was coming...thanks for the heads up!

Larry & Shiela - Yes, one cent isn't much for someone who only mails a dozen letters in a month, but when you're prospecting, it can really add up!

Cara - I don't know. From what I read, their Union is so strong that they have to pay people full wages just to be "on call" if needed. No wonder they're going broke. They simply aren't being run like a business.
