So what will things be like in 24 - 48 hours? If the weather men and ladies get it right, it will be a winter wonderland! The forecasters are saying that the snow falling now will continue on and off today and then some time over night the real storm hits. Yep the snow we had on Saturday, and Sunday, and Monday, and today are just the warm up, the calm before the storm... or so they are saying.
We have enough snow at my house this morning to have knocked out my satellite dish - I guess I'll be taking a broom to that in a bit. And if all goes as planned it probably won't be the last time I have to do it before the storm is over.
Predictions are saying that we could get up to a foot of snow in the next day or two. Now for many parts of the country that might not seem like a big deal, but for us here in the lowlands of the Pacific Northwest... well that is just about unheard of.
Predictions are that we will break some records with this next storm. Here are the 10 snowiest days reported at Sea-Tac Airport:
Rank Inches Date
1 20.0 1/13/1950
2 14.9 1/27/1969
3 10.0 1/26/1950
4 9.3 12/31/1968
5 8.9 12/23/1965
6 8.8 12/26/1974
7 7.9 1/25/1972
8 7.8 11/21/1985
9 7.6 11/27/1985
10 7.0 1/29/1969
So by tomorrow, I might be doing this...
(This was from the winter of 2008/2009 and it was not from one snowfall.)
