The Treasure Valley got Snow.....Finally...

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty Boise Idaho SP20114

The sky fell today....well actually it was just the Snow Jan 18 2012 Nampa Idaho
very much anticipated snow...

From our office we can see the remnants of the storm this afternoon.

Here in the Treasure Valley we had got no snow
to speak of in a long time.....

since December 2010!!!

Doesn't do much for those that sell snow shovels....

In Nampa we only get an average of 12 inches of precipitation per year....

That is part of why we are referred to as the Treasure Valley...

We have all 4 seasons and other than very hot summers our temperatures are pretty mild.

We got good news that Bogus Basin Ski Resort will be opening tomorrow...

I think that the Louder for Powder fundraiser worked....

(actually it was tonight and the snow started falling this morning!!)

We were predicted to have got between 4-8 inches of snow during this storm...

I know for many of you out there this is small potatoes...

But it is pretty big out here...

They showed folks at the local WinCo foods stocking up on groceries and supplies...

A lot of us didn't believe we would get that much....

But we did...some where between 4-6 inches

Schools closed early and Churches advised their members to stay home tonight.

Right now it is raining but it is supposed to snow
all through the night....

mixed with a bit of rain.

The roads  may be icy and slick tomorrow morning...

All I can say is be careful....

Drive Smart...and that means if you are not
comfortable on the roads...

Maybe consider not driving in the snow...

Save your nerves and others around you ...Snow Angels

If you do drive...

Allow plenty of time to get where you are going...

And remember it isn't a race to see who can go the
fastest either!!!

Be safe...

And go and make a Snow Angel if you have time!!!

How funny, Deborah.  Seattle got their first snow just ahead of you folks.  Not to worry, though.  It has been snowing here in Cleveland for awhile.  Want to trade weather ?  Prolly not... LOL.

We are expecting snow in Colorado tonight. Probably part of your system, so most of it will probably go north of me. Too bad...we could use some more snow here.

Carolyn....so nice of you to offer to share but I think I will take our weather!!!

Debbie...as much as I would rather it didn't snow ....We need it badly ....if we want to have our yards and farmers crops watered....we are ok this year but not next!!! Yikes!

Deborah- while I love the 70+ degrees weather we're having now... it would be kind of fun to see some snow.  Enjoy and be safe.

Hi Deborah,

thanks for coming out and admitting to having snow..... we never have snow here but over the past few days we received about 6 inches so life as we know it in Victoria has come to a stand still, pretty much

Yikes Peter and Linda...I heard Seattle was going to be some what crippled....we get more snow than you guys but really don't get much every year.....I was lazy to day and when a kid came and asked if I wanted my drive way shoveled for a few bucks I took him up on the offer!    LOL

Love the post Deborah, good to hear that you are getting some measurable snow. I bet making snow angels seemed a little silly before the snow came.  :)

Enjoy the weather!

Deborah,  We are finally going to get rain here today.  I was beginning to wonder if we would have a dry winter. It's nice to see and experience the seasonal changes.  As you point out ... be safe!  It's different driving in the snow and the rain!

Gets the job done!

The snow was nice but now in the valley it is almost gone.... I hope the mountains our colder....

We who live in Idaho know that we need snow in the mountains to provide for winter sports and water.... Without the snow pack the resevours would be dry and the crops would have no water.... I just wish today wasn't the day for a reinspection!

Debbie...I hear you ....had to be in Boise for an appointment at 8:15 this morning....the drive from Nampa was interesting!    LOL   Good Luck on your re-inspection!!

Deborah, It did sound as if you and the NW were getting some good snowfall!    I think our ski areas got up to 16" in the last few days, and they need it desperately!   Stay safe & warm!
