BananaTude tip of the day

I was in Walmart yesterday and went to get some bananas.  When I got there all I could find were overripe or rotten bananas.  I guess Walmart's BananaTude is that if they only put the old bananas out then that is what people will buy.

BananaTudeAt first I was a little upset that they didn't have anything worth buying.  Then I looked down.  Under the shelf are sevaral boxes of bananas.  I pulled them out and opened them up.  The second box I opened had green bananas.  I took out what I needed and bought them.  Now I have perfect bananas today instead of rotten ones.

There are ways around Walmarts BananaTude!

Its the oldest rule in sales, you get what you pay for. I would simply avoid shopping Walmart. They have a reputation for treating their employees poorly too. Take your business to a local grocer, they will provide better service because they genuinely care about keeping their customers satisfied.

John and Betina - Thanks for taking the time to read.  I wish there were more local grocers.  All that is available is the big box grocers.

Yeah - I was in Walmart last week or was it Meijers ? They had Miracle Whip 2 for $6.00 I am still kicking myself for not buying them. Turns out we ran out so I paid $5.49 for one at my locally owned grocery store a couple days ago.

They (the local grocer) do usually have great looking bananas. They must have a touch of green and some yellow. I will not eat them once they have brown spots.

Marilyn, it is too bad that the big guys have driven the mom amd pop shops out of business.  We don't like to eat them with brown spots either.  The more brown spots the better bread and smoothies they make though.

They obviously subscribe to the accounting principle of FIFO -- first in, first out. But marketers would probably cringe at that decision since it will cause the store to lose buyers who are dissastisfied with the quality of products they get. Marketers will more than likely go with LIFO -- last in, first out -- which may result in more products not selling, causing the price of the good ones to go up.

Guess I won't buy any kind of food at Walmart's.
