I Got Tagged as the Prolific Rainer

Wow , a new blogging tool of "Meme" and to think that Mary McKnight started this whole thing. On second thought it has its merits...just another way of getting to know folks a little bit better than we did before. I can't wait to read everyone's 5 choice items that they have decided to share with all of us. Meme Happiness

It seems that both Ann Cummings and Lenn Harley both tagged me in our MEME Active Rain Community Meme Fest. Since I was tagged twice, does that mean double the trouble? What fun it is to be tagged and then to think of 5 things or is it 10 things that no one knows about me, that I can actually share. Well let's see...hmmmmmmmm

  1. Spanish was my 1st language. My Dad was a Geologist and we moved to Caracas, Venezuela when I was 2. My nanny and the school I attended only spoke Spanish. Didn't learn English until coming back to the U.S. in 2nd grade. No, I don't speak Spanish, now. Understand quite a bit but speak it as a child. English was VERY difficult to learn!
  2. I was born in Seattle, WA, moved to Houston, TX, Caracas, Venezuela, San Antonio, TX, Lafayette, LA, Denver CO, Walnut Creek, CA and now in Elk Grove, CA
  3. My Grandfather's Grandfather invented the Gatling Gun
  4. My Grandmother's Great Granfather was Zachary Taylor
  5. I was a ballerina for 16 years. Was a member of Denver Civic Ballet and was a guest dancer with ABT of NY
  6. I was a Debutant and came out in Denver, CO
  7. Fell in the bathtub while standing and shaving my leg during an earthquake while living in Walnut Creek and broke my leg
  8. I have two girls age 34 and 26
  9. 3 lovely Grandchildren, Anthony age 5, Gianna age 3 and Little Ava just 3 months
  10. And I too, like Lenn Harley, do not like driving at night. It's an age thing, I think.

I think that I will end it here with 10 things about me that no one in AR knows and throw the ball or rather tag...

and I'm throwing another into the loop since I had to write 10 things instead of 5

so that you can learn 5 new things about each of them. Now, I need to figure out what I'm taking to Hawaii.

Gena: It is after midnight and after sharing some lovely California wines with friends, I don't trust what I might confess;-)

I love your ballerina aspect. I suspect you still enjoy dancing!

More tomorrow. Five it shall be....

Gena - I think it's great to read all these things about you - thanks for sharing 10 things, too.  This 'meme' thing is fun.  It gives us a chance to love a little more about the people we converse with here on Active Rain that we wouldn't ordinarily have had the chance to learn.

Thanks for sharing and for taking part in this tag challenge!

Hey. I did not know you were a Grandmother. Cool. I am too. But you know that already.

A Ballerina. That really does not surprise me. I had no trouble imagining that. :)

I can also envision you with a Nanny.

You have a very colorful history. :)

Well, I'll let Jacqui decide what she wants to share. Hmmm five things about me? Well, I grew up in Zion National Park (basically).  I got my first computer when I was 10 years old, which should explain a few things. -Charles

Gena..... how cool, that your grandfather's grandfather invented the Gatling Gun. Very interesting and such a powerful weapon when it was first introduced.

I agree with Roberta.... the ballerina aspect of 16 years is interesting. And congrats on being a grandmother. Thank god my sister had kids and didn't wait for me... and still waiting.

Overall, thanks for sharing...I enjoyed this and this is fun.

Roberta, don't dance anymore...use to teach but now with Real Estate...don't have time and the body is not quite the same. The feet are HORRIBLE, but that's another story! Loved your new blog!! You are on my blog roll.

Maureen, yes it was an ouch. I was suppose to go to Denver that year with my kids but instead was crawling on the floor to pack their suitcases so they could go for Easter to visit the grandparents. My cast was not to walked on and was still wet when their plane took off. Never forget that one!

Ann, you bet. I enjoyed it...you and Lynn both tagged me and then the Tomato man tagged me on the outside blog so there are even more things on my other blog. I'm plum out of anymore to share.

TLW, however I don't have as many grandchildren as you do! You beat me! I would think all of us had quite a colorful history...things are never what they appear sometimes.

Charles, thanks for responding ... I checked you out and now all we need is "J's"

Jeff, Thank you. A few years ago when I took a trip to Washington, I actually saw the Gatling gun in the museum and felt pretty proud. Yes, ballet was my life for a very long time and they weren't real thrilled that I skied. Never hurt myself skiing but this year sprained my ankle (3rd degree sprain-took 8 months to heal and still not like it was) just from getting up from the computer!! Who would figure?????

Caracas, Venezuela?  That is too cool ....that's where I'm from (but you probably don't remember much since you were 2 when you left).  I have no idea what a Gatlin gun is.

And I hope you didn't cut yourself too during the earthquake!

Congrats on your grandchildren.
