There is a time for everything under the sun…
A time to be born, a time to die
Timing is everything or at least it is very important. How often has a joke fallen flat because the timing to the punch line was off?
In real estate, the timing of a seller willing to sell at the market value coming into alignment with a buyer willing to pay market value is paramount to the success of deal. Learning to dance to the timing of your client helps differentiate a good agent from a great agent.
Do you know a young man or woman who was not ready to settle into a committed relationship, but the person interested in that man or woman was ready? The timing was off. When the one not ready to make a commitment is ready, he or she may discover the interested other has now formed a committed relationship with someone else. Timing was vitally important.
Last night at our annual realtors® association banquet an awkward situation arose for many agents from our office. One of the association employees felt too many were seated at one of the tables our office had been assigned to. She came over and began to gruffly demand to have everyone’s name. There was a problem with timing. At the moment she was demanding in a quite loud voice, a person was offering the invocation and those around were quiet. An important discussion was necessary, but the timing of this discussion was completely out of whack.
As you consider important decisions, remember there is a time for everything. Discerning this timing will often determine whether the desired outcome is achieved. All agents could discuss in our office today was how rude the woman was last night. Her desired outcome was clearly not achieved.
There are moments where decisive action is required. Other moments demand a more patient approach. A slow steady hand is necessary. May you have the wisdom to be able to distinguish what the right timing may be!
