Picnik will be No More- Get Ready for Picasa

Real Estate Agent with RI Real Estate Services ~ 401-529-7849~ RI Waterfront Real Estate

Picnik will be No More- Get Ready for Picasa.  Yes, it has been announced that Picnik which is now owned by Google will be incorporated into Picasa as of April 19th!  Do I hear the Boo, Hoos out there!!?  It has been such a wonderful photoediting service to people like me who do not Photoshop.  Personally, I tried Picasa once and did not like it...now I need to grit my teeth and go back and see if they will have incorporated some of the wonderful Picnik features into it.

Narragansett RI Real Estate and coast

The good news is that from now until closing date Picnik is absolutely free for all its premium add ons!  So if you never tried it before go test the easy photo application that has so thrilled many of us.

The premium members will be getting all their fees paid for this year back with no pro-ration either.  Some consolation for a great product that will be no more.  RIP oh wonderful Picnik...Google better rise to the challenge its users loved.  Picnik will be No More- Get Ready for Picasa.

Picnik is not taking on any new subscribers either.  Have to check out googles product. From what I understand Picnik will not change once incorporated into Google +

It sure is sad, I love Picnik and have never been a Picasa fan. And when I think about all those slide shows that I will have to redo. I assume if it close they wioll just disappear in all my posts. :(

I'm glad to see that Jeff echoes my thoughts on Picasa. I just told myself yesterday that I need to start using it (to get in the groove) and I was not a happy camper. It takes like 40 stpes just to resize a photo.

Ginny, I didn't use Picnik much and I do have Photoshop but I recently upgraded it so time to get back in there and learn to do more damage

Ginny, it was sad opening my emil this morning and seeing this elimination of Picnik.     MANY bloggers use these features!   Hopefully Picassa will be easy to use.

I had not tried Picnik yet so at least that is off my to-do list!  I use Picasa...kind of....not that skilled in it.

Ginny I got a couple of notice about Picnik shutting down.  I usually use PhotoShop, but it is good to have other choices.  I have not tried Picasa, so maybe I need to check it out.

Hi Ginny,

How much for the service of editing your pictures?

I need to see if it's affordable for me as I start the whole "photo chopping" mess. LOL

Have a great day in Rhode Island.

Best, Clint McKie

Clint, right now PICNIK is free for all until they shut down in APril...run right over there & use it...then it is being absorbed into GOOGLE+ so who knows what will be available...i've tried Picasa & it doesn't work well for me...best!

Ginny, yes I'm one of those Photoshop girls, but I'm just as shocked as all of you who contantly entertain us with the effects you create there.

I can't believe it!   I love the product and even the free version was so helpful.  Once I found it, the stress left my photo taking knowing that I could do an easy touch up without distortion.    Bummer!

I don't like Picassa - never did. Personally, I have a feeling Google went way to far here.   I will cancel my Google+ if they use Picnik as a way to force feed me Picassa and Google+ I'm sick and tired of being a puppet on a string for big corporate hucksters.  Enough is enough. The consumer has to learn to use their voice again and say "NO!"  I like it THIS WAY.
