So, you are on Twitter, right? You know the drill. Come up with something witty and amazing to share with the world, 140 characters at a time. Build relationships, become a market expert, be THE resource for everything in your area, right?
How long until you hit tweet number 100,000? Yeah, for most of us, it’ll probably be a while
I once sat in a room at a large real estate conference and heard a friend say, “I’m kind of a big deal.”
Believe it or not, that friend was NOT Tyler Hurst.
This guy tweets a LOT.
A lot of people and/or companies use Twitter to convey a message, to build a brand, create relationships. Tyler has done all of the above. And then some.
This past Thursday, Tyler Hurst posted tweet number 100,000. I noticed him creeping up on the number a while back and thought it was only fitting to do a Tweetup. We met at a local restaurant with some local geeks and had some interesting conversations about how Tyler uses Twitter.
Of course, the thought of 100,000 tweets won’t make me lose sleep any time soon, it was fun to get his perspective on the next 100,000. To some, Twitter is no big deal. To others, it’s “kind of a big deal.”
For real estate agents, Twitter can be a fun tool, a business builder and more. Yes, more. As in, a huge time suck if not done correctly. For most of us, we don’t need to even think about sending out as many messages as Tyler. What we do need to think about is how we present the messages, who we want to reach and how we want to use twitter. Heck, for a VERY large percentage of agents, Twitter is probably not a good use of your time.
If you use Twitter, feel free to follow me and say. You can also follow Tyler, if you dare.
