Canton MA is Going Green

Canton MA is Green in more ways than one. First of all green and white are the town colors - the colors of the Canton High Bulldogs! Go Bulldogs!

But Canton MA is also into green energy as I recently wrote about in my blog post about Canton MA's Green Projects, outlining two solar projects that are under way in Canton MA.

This Canton MA Buyer Broker wanted to get in on the green action. So I am now the proud owner of a Toyota Prius Hybrid. What a fun car to drive! And, it shows you how many miles per gallon you are getting so I find myself adjusting driving habits to get the best MPG. The best so far was a little over 50 MPG.

With the amount of miles I drive, it no longer made sense to drive around my minivan, when most of the time I am the only one in the car! We still have the reliable van for when all 5 of us need to go somewhere on a long drive, but most of the time my husband just drives it to the commuter rail station where it sits all day. His older 2000 small sedan is now being driven by my 17-year old daughter, freeing me up from having to pick her up all the time.

So, now everyone is happy! And the one doing the most driving (me) is saving money, saving gas & helping the environment.

I love saving $$ on gas and may look into a Prius for my next car. A few people have told me that with their Prius their mileage is about 43-45 or so, but I have found out that driving habits have alot of impact on mpg's....I know this is not popular on the So CAl freeways but I drive 55-to 60 mph. You burn alot more gas, the faster you drive-----and it's also safer to drive slower. But I get honked at & almost driven off the road by many an impatient idiot, on a daily basis...... even though I am in the right lane. ???

Deborah....it is the same way here & being a Massachusetts driver, I do not think I could keep it at 60 mph. *Sigh* But the Prius display tells you what you are getting for mileage so I do find myself adjusting.

Barbara Jo....I guess better late than never.

Ginny...we needed to get a car. The other 2 were old & starting to cost money....especially if I kept piling on the miles. With my older daughter driving, it all made sense & is making my life easier. That Camry will last you a long time!
