Did you know that the Lookout Mountain Nature Center was originally housed in the Boettcher Mansion in Golden? The Boettcher family donated the home and the land around Lookout Mountain to Jefferson County in 1968. In 1997, the Lookout Nature Center built its own location nearby using sustainable design, with earth friendly, recycled materials. The gift shop has books, toys and gifts for all the nature lovers in your family.

Many people come to Golden for hiking! Lookout Mountain is a great place to start or end a hike. The many hiking trails take you around the wooded mountainside, with the most beautiful views! Enjoy the lovely mountain views, but remember to take your camera for hte best scenic views of Golden! Bikes and dogs are not allowed on some of the trails, so make sure to check with your hiking guides or stop into the Lookout Mountain Center for more information.
