Arizona skiing - Snowbowl in Flagstaff, AZ

Real Estate Agent with Dominion Fine Properties SA582226000

While many of my northern friends are experiencing their first major snowstorms of the year, we are continuing to enjoy 70 degree F weather here in Scottsdale and Phoenix, AZ.  But, for some, you just gotta have that wonderful skiing that the white stuff brings.  So, today, I am writing about Snowbowl, a great ski and snow boarding area just north of Flagstaff, AZ.

Last year, we drove up I-17 because we longed to see snow again in person.  It's just a little over 1 1/2 hour drive and after you get over that last hill, you'll see the beauty of Snowbowl rising majestically ahead of you.  Even if you're not a skier, the views are worth the short trip.

Snowbowl is open and the weather forecast was for more snow today.  Rates vary by age and time with the best prices after 12 noon.  Children 7 & younger are free as are adults 70 and older.  And, here's the best part - if you live here in the valley, after you 1 1/2 hour drive home, you can put your shorts back on and jump into your pool, if you want!!!

Come to Arizona - we offer it all!!!!

Juli, Snowbowl looks beautiful. You really do have the best of both worlds (as I sit here freezing in New York)

Now that is my kind of weather. Just pick if you want nice and mild or cold and snowy.

Juli it is nice to have such recreational activity nearby.  You also have a choice to sit back and enjoy the 70 degree weather which I consider perfect or go have fun in the snow.  No wonder Northerners move to Arizona.

Juli ~ wonderful information on the Snowbowl.  It's close enough to enjoy when you have the time off!  Congrats on the feature, my friend!

Maybe it's just me, but if I moved to Arizona, a lot of the reasoning would be to get rid of the snow and cold :)

Here, recently, we didn't have to drive to see snow.  But we did have to look fast...before it melted into memory.

Wow - thank you all for commenting and for the feature.  Personally, I never thought I would ever want to see snow again.  But, last year, our road trip to Flagstaff and Snowbowl was worth it - beautiful and so close - but I don't have to shovel!!!

Juli, you should do one of these blogs on the Tucson area's Mt. Lemon.  I can see the snow from my house and I'm really glad it's up there and not here.

That doesn't even seem right.

That you can be so close of a drive to such a warm dry climiate that you are in.

Have fun in the snow.

Mom (Marlis), YOU should do a post about it.  I'll help you get the photos and stuff.

Greg, that's just one of the bonuses of living here in Scottsdale and the reason I moved here from the Chicago area.

One of the great secrets of living in Phoenix-go up for the weekend for snow then come back to the sun. Great info for all to read.

Hi Juli, I have visited the Grand Canyon and Prescott and Sedona, but did not know this place was so close to it.  Oh darn, guess I have to make another trip.

Hi Juli, thank you for the reminder. We often forget how we have it great in AZ. As an avid skier since my early teenage year, I tend to go to Colorado and Utah every year to get share of skiing. I think I'll give it a try.

A long time back I skied on Mt. Lemmon in June and that's a fair piece south of the Phoenix area. That would have been the Winter of 66-67 or 67-68. You did have to be careful of dry spots and take turn driving each other up to Radio Ridge but it was worth it. Did I mention that was a long time back. :-)

did you know that Arizona is advertising "Ski Arizona" very aggressively on CA TV?  This is the first year, I think.
