Kula Ridge has won approval from the Land Use Commission, after a 6 year struggle.  The project plans to have 70 affordable housing units and 46 market valued homes on 51 acres, and is expected to take 10 years.  The community has mixed feelings about this development in a mostly rural and agricultural setting, but many residents welcome the opportunity for jobs and housing in their neighborhood.

Your market seems very high end in prices compared to my area. We have a local agent that use to split her time up between Maui and Cedaredge, CO. With market conditions the way they are...she hasn't been doing the commute. I guess she was going to open a ReMax office in Maui. Have your prices fallen much in the last 3 years? We've seen a big drop here, and I can't believe what some of our properties are selling for. I do a lot of BPOs so I'm in and out of the MLS all the time.

Debbie - yes prices are way down here, but of course they were kind of inflated before, so all in all prices on Maui are still high.  You really need about $500,000 or more for a nice decent home over 1,000 sf.  If it's priced low enough, you'll get plenty of offers from buyers who are just waiting for the right thing to come on the market.
