Speechless Sunday ~ Dogs Are Family

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

I found this story today, and thought I would share it, as it tells me a picture is worth a thousand words.

Family Dog

This photo is of a dying homeless man's last wish was to see his dog one more time. Yurtie, a female dog used to live with Cedar Rapids 57 year old Kelvin Mc Clain in his car.

Unfortunately, Kevin became ill with lung cancer. Hospice employees say it was the most touching moment ever. And it was their last time together. Kevin died shortly after he met the dog. Yurtie now lives with a new family.

On a day when famed Penn State Coach Joe Paterno succumbed also to lung cancer let us remember to be nice to everyone while we are alive and in the end it is all about love.

Gary indeed a picture is worth 1,000 words.  My wife would put her grandfathers dog in bed with him and he would perk up.  The day he didn't want his pup she knew it would be his last day and it was.

Gary-I don't comment a lot, but read your posts regularly, and find being the best and kindest person we can be to be a common theme...one of the reasons I keep reading. This is extraordinarily touching, thank you for sharing it.

Heart warming and sad.  Love the thought that the man was able to be with the pet and love around him.

Gary, This reminded me so much of my sister, who died of cancer with her cats on the bed with her, trying to comfort her. It was the saddest thing I had ever seen.  She tried to pet them, but she couldn't really lift her arm, so they rubbed their heads on her hand and snuggled against her.

The picture is a dichotomy of a happy and sad moment Gary.  The gentleman's emaciated body is demonstrative of what homelessness and cancer can do.  The look on the dog's face is priceless... the love that man's best friend has for him, in spite of circumstances.  That's a wow!
