Vail School District Excels!!!

I am a single mom who works from home as a real estate agent.  For the past 3 1/2 years, I have also been home schooling my daughter, who is now in the 6th grade.  However, as my real estate business is consuming more of my time, I have found that I am unable to give my career the attention it needs as well as giving my daughter's education the care that it deserves.  Therefore, I have prayerfully made the decision to enroll my daughter in a public school.

The Vail school district is one of the more sought after districts in Tucson, and my mind was somewhat put at ease by that.  However, I did take the time to go interview Principal Kevin Carney, of Desert Sky Middle School, where my daughter will be attending next semester.  I was impressed with how many of the students Mr. Carney knew by name and was relieved to find out the extensiveness of their anti-bullying program.  Another very-encouraging fact about that particular school is that they encourage parental involvement.  To me, a school that encourages parents to be involved first of all has nothing to hide AND it reaps the benefits of having volunteers who truly have the best interest of the school at heart.

One of the "selling points" mentioned at our meeting was that this particular middle school is rated as Excelling by the Arizona Board of Education.  Upon further research, I discovered that all of the Vail schools are excelling.  Their small class sizes and very involved teachers have something to do with this, I'm sure.  I'm looking forward to sending my daughter to Desert Sky Middle School next semester.
