If I Saw it on GMA - so did your client!

houseGood Morning America is doing a series on how to sell your house in a tough market.  This morning Wendy Bounds worked with a couple in Detroit who have had their home on the market for nearly a year.

She suggested BLOGGING about your home, putting it on YOU TUBE, putting it in Craigslist, Zillow, AOL, Yahoo - many of the internet places I would have considered (although I must admit the YOU TUBE ones are kinda weird).  She also suggested putting together fliers for a garage sale / open house - and including a $1000 reward for someone who finds a buyer for the home!

I was unfamiliar with GOOGLE BASE - another suggested place for homeowners to list their property - and so I checked it out.  WOW!  Just like all the other Google products I like (no wonder it'sas expensive as gold!) GOOGLE Base is another place to put information about the home so everyone else sees it.

Wendy's series of WSJ articlesand GMA clips are continuing, so you might want to continue to check on them for more ideas!  (I'm certain clients will!)

If you've had good, or bad, experience with any of these tools - please let me know!

I saw the piece on GMA.  Did you notice if any of it worked?  I like different tools, already using what they suggested, would love to know something new that does.  My clients did see the show, called and told me that I should have done the piece:) ps, some states have laws that would prevent you from paying anyone (unlicensed) to sell your listing.

It's a Good Life!

I hope NC would allow it!  I have a friend who called to tell me she's out this afternoon with fliers!

I checked out Google Base after I read your post and noticed that there are withdrawn listings on there.  That's the first I've checked it out so I don't know how common that is on the site.  Do you have any idea how often they clean up their listings?

Thanks for the post, always good info!

The way I see it, the more marketing and market exposure, the better!

I don't know how often Google pulls withdrawn - but it looks like it might be weekly?  I am going to put it into my outlook to check for the next couple of days.

I put my listings on GoogleBase myself though I know that some of the sites feed automatically to it.  Not sure it's been much help really for all of Google's power.

I use Google base.  The listings last for 14 days and can be renewed for 14 day intervals.  Does help get the listings out there.  Just have to make sure to check every day to see which listing is expiring.

I work with real estate agents in marketing and one of the things I use with them is Single Property Websites. The system I use with them submits each property to Google Base, Trilio, Oodle and many more of these sites.

The best part is they dont have to do anyone more than enter the information for the website... and that is just fill in the blanks! The webiste is created, the information is submitted to these search engines and I post all homes on the system to Craigslist twice a week!

Personally, I think you can never get enough exposure, especially in a market like this!

Find out more at http://www.ednailor.com/single-property-websites.htm (limited to the overall Charlotte, NC and surrounding areas.) If you are outside that area, contact me and I can help you get this started for yourself!

This is VERY VERY cool.  I had not heard of Oodle either.

Thanks!

Eleanor,
I am wondering why your post got the red X.  Have you asked the AR Gods?

I missed the wrong box when I was posting and said this was someone else's stuff.  It's not - I just kissed the wrong box.  Do you know how to ask the Gods for help when you make a boo-boo?  I tried editing it - but that doesn't help. ??????

I don't watch GMA anymore. We watch Fox and Friends in the morning. So we missed this episode. We have been using these tools for quite  awhile now and blogging your listings will get you a lot of exposure. Ar is a great place to start.
