Where is all that Oregon rain going Todd? Oregon City Falls, wait what falls?

In 2008, I took this picture of the Oregon City Falls and it shows what the falls normally look like, but yesterday that is not what the falls looked like. The fact is they looked more like a ripple in a fast moving river because the Willamette River was at flood stages and was moving real fast!

Oregon City Falls (August 2008)

Now, below is the picture from yesterday and as you can see, there is a major difference between the picture from 2008 and the one I just took. With all the snow runoff we are getting along with the inches upon inches of rain, it has equaled a lot of flooding in the area.

So, if you see water going across the street, please don’t try to drive through it, we have already lost a couple lives and I don’t want to see any more.

Todd, water is a powerful force. Good reminder about not driving on a water-covered street because the depth can be deceiving. When we get rain that lasts more than five minutes, our roads and streets become flooded and can be hazardous.

Todd -

Two lives lost so senselessly.  Sad for the ones lost, families and friends.  Great post and photos in reminding us all when water is over the road DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS!

The blue water looks much prettier! I'd hate to go over those falls in a barrel either way!

Todd - Those two photos demonstrate a significant change in water flow!  You also chose a great vantage point from which to shoot those scenes!  Amazin' stuff!

Todd,

That is quite a difference. You'd never know about the first one by seeing the second. :)

It really is amazing how much rain we got in such a short amount of time. But, I do know we are lucky that our area is used to a lot of rain and even though we had some flooding, it certainly could have been worse.
