Living Green in Erie, PA

Inspired by post by Debb Janes

Mary Yonkers

After reading, commenting and reblogging Debb Janes' post 'The Art of Being Green - It's mostly common sense' I just had to walk along Trout Run which runs through my property.  If you look closely at the house you can see light in left window where I was sitting before this picture was taken.

Trout Run

I wanted to breathe the fresh air, listen to the stream and feel the Green Effect on this rather warm January day in Erie, PA.  Thanks for joining me for a walk down by the stream.

Now that is a beautiful backyard.  When you are ready to list call me I would love to market a property like that.

Glad it was mild enough to enjoy the fresh air and sunlight, Mary. It's always so nice to be able to get outdoors at least once a day.

What a lovely compliment Mary. And thank you so very much for letting us share your walk and perfect backyard setting. The stream is beautiful - I'm so glad you are the kind of person who appreciates it. It's the perfect place for you to live. ( I could live in that setting and be happy too) I see your green soul shining all the way from Erie, PA. It looks wonderful.

Hi Mary,

I love the photos that you take of the stream and the woods surrounding your home, especially the ones you take around sunset.  Those are simply amazing.

Thanks, Roy.  Loved Dolores's scallop recipe.  Yummy.

Liz--how long are you going to be in real estate?  We are here for the long-haul or till we die which ever comes last.

JoAnn--Yes, I love a mild weather day in the middle of winter. Just have to get outside.  Today I went for two walks.

Debb--Well, thanks again for the inspiration to walk along the stream.  I had taken a walk earlier, but avoided the stream because the ground was rather soft and muddy, but your post just pulled me right out the door.  Then I had to write a post to justify my walk.  Thanks.  More later about compost & septic system in close proximity to stream.

Karen--We love the location.  I have fun taking photos and sharing them here & Facebook.

Great Post Mary, but now you have me thinking of fishing.  Any fish in there?

Yes, steelhead and once in awhile lake trout, however, this stream is a nursery stream posted for no fishing.  If you are in the area we will take you to several other good spots for fishing.

Toni--Best of all I can see part of the stream from my kitchen and dining room windows, but a walk is best.

Hello Kristen,  Yes, we love living here.  Both Dave & I grew up in city/suburbs and finally fifteen years ago found this idyllic spot, not perfect, but idyllic.  Thanks for stopping by.

Mary, I too just read Debb's post, and is so important to sustain our resources and live as GREEN as possible.   Bet that walk along the river is pretty in the summer!

Mary,

I am interested in hearing about the septic and compost...we have a piece of land along the Lewis River and any septic and well are really difficult to place due to setbacks. We can do it, but it's really tight.  D
