As a part of my 2012 BIG Jumpstart Blog Challenge, I thought about my cousin Leroy and
his wife Cindy. This is to fulfil the PHOTO portion. My cousin truly had his challenges, so I have learned NOT to say I CAN'T or I WON'T.
To make the story short, 30 years ago, he was asleep as a back seat passenger when the driver went off the road and Leroy was thrown through the windshield FIFTY feet. The accident left him a paraplegic. He was alive but his work life was ended, his dreams were smashed. I'm sure he and his wife have gone through some trying times and I commend Cindy on being there for Leroy at ALL times. She has stuck with him through thick and thin.
Most people would stick their head in the sand and say "I give up", but NOT LEROY. He has gone above and beyond. He has been here to Hawaii two times and the last time, we went to the Big Island together to visit the active Lava Fields. If the wheel chair will roll, he will go there. Even the rental cars, he had a special apparatus so that HE could and did drive. He doesn't let people help him, or as little as possible. I am amazed to see him roll his chair up to the automobile, pull himself up into the driver's seat, dissemble his wheel chair, tuck it into the rear seat and drive off!
What an amazing person he is. My Cousin the HERO! If he can do it, YOU can.
