I'm FAST, EASY, and CHEAP!

If we are what we eat... I'm FAST, EASY, and CHEAP!

 That's the TRUTH!

I'm GUILTY!!!

I ADMIT it!

Fast food SURROUNDS us!
It's everywhere!
On the road, in the stores, at the gas station, in our freezer, anywhere and everywhere!

Seems like we all try to fit so much in a day. Especially in this line of work! We're always on the Go!

Is this the FOOD PYRAMID you have used for MOST of your LIFETIME?

We really need to take the time to take better care of ourselves.

We should try to consume our food in at least 6 sessions, of eating smaller portions, instead of 3 larger meals.

  • Eat a healthy NUTRITIOUS breakfast.
  • Prepare or choose a HEALTHY Lunch
  • In the EARLY evening have a HEALTHY home cooked supper or CHOOSE WISELY when dining out.
  • Choose a couple of healthy snacks.
  • Drink more WATER, less pop, alcohol, and caffeine.

Eating Healthy...It must be a CONSCIOUS DECISION.  It is our choice.  We must commit to it!

For awhile, I was a health FREAK! I rode Race Horses for a living, and I was in FANTASTIC shape! Then I became a Sheriff's Deputy and stayed in great shape. Then I was injured on the job, had 5 surgeries, and was forced to retire. I gained alot of weight while I was recovering for over a year, pretty much unable to do anything active, depressed and drowning myself in soda pop and food!

FAST food, EASY food and CHEAP food! How stupid was that?!

Later I discovered a program on my computer that can easily track my daily calories and the QUALITY of the nutrition. It's called DIET POWER, and I HIGHLY recommend it. But it takes a little time each day. (not much) It worked great! I lost weight, looked great, and felt fantastic! Then the computer I had the program on, CRASHED and so did I!

So now, I'm gonna get back on it, and start eating better, there are HEALTHY choices out there that are FAST, EASY and CHEAP, you just need to try a LITTLE harder to find them and COMMIT to eating healthy.

Also... Drink LOTS of WATER!!!

We should try to drink 1/2 our weight in OUNCES of WATER!

So if you weigh 200 pounds, you should drink 100 OUNCES of WATER.

How about you??? Are you, FAST, EASY, and CHEAP?

Eat healthy, then walk a couple of miles, then eat an apple, and walk again, a few nuts, and then walk again, and again, and again

Hi Cheryl, great post and you included many of fav foods, lol. I, too, am eating healthier these days. Every once in a while though, a good old burger and fries sounds so damn good!

Congrats to you Sandy, I too love a burger and fries, but have resolved to only eat an occasional one from the bar-b-cue, made with lean meat. That should help, rather than the Micky D's that are so full of fat. :)

Hate fast food, it makes me feel horrible after ive eaten it, haven't had a McDonalds in years. The other problem is that folks just don't know enough about cooking healthy foods anymore, the instant this and quick that has robbed people of basic cooking skills.

Cheryl, we stopped eating junk food a few years ago. I also drink about a gallon of water every day. Still need to get in the regimen of eating six times a day instead of three meals. Thanks.

What a great post!!  I loved this whole thing.  My wife and I decided to change our lifestyles and diet a year ago.  I can't tell you how much better we both feel.  Thanks for the chuckle.

A very relevant topic form amny of us!  Guilty pleasures.  I would add one other point.  We teach our kids alot through our actions so as we run thru the drive-thru with them because we are short on time, we pass that bad habit along to them.  And there brains and bodies are still developing and need the fresh produce and unprocessed foods to grow strong and healthy.  Good habits can start today if you choose.

LOL! Valerie, Sodium for sure! I, for some reason, LOVE Ramen! What else can fill you up for less than 25 cents, and be cooked in 1 minute! So BAD for us!

David, You hit the NAIL on the HEAD!!! I feel like YUCK after eating at McDonalds, It is SO BAD fo us. So many kids are being brought up on MICROWAVE food, and it's so sad. The microwave NUKES the nutrients, and kills their value. I'm completely making healthy changes, and will soon reap the rewards. It's a shame that cooking a home cooked meal has gone by the wayside, and our generation's kids and grandkids rarely learn how.

Michael, So many of you are commenting that you are now eating healthy. That's encouraging, everyone sticking with it, and feeling so much better. I'm joining the winning team!

Jared, Good for you and Amanda! I bet you both really do feel so much better! I've also added a Ninja Juicer to my Kitchen and am enjoying juicing for breakfast, and a grapefruit before bed. LOVING IT! Glad ya got a chuckle!

Mike, Ahhh Yes, our GUILTY Pleasures! And I'm serving my sentence in a bunch of FAT body cells. My JAIL IS my BODY! But... I'm getting out soon!

It is so sad what Americans are doing to their children, we are sentencing them to the fast food lifestyle. My parents raised me on proper meals, I raised my kids on home cooked FOR THE MOST PART, but did resort to fast food far too often. Single mom working extreme hours. Now grown, my boys, cook all the time, and try to eat healthy, But my daughter and grandaughter PREFER junk food.

Parents must care for their kids and feed them nutritious meals,
so they can grow up healthy!

I gave up red meat and about 99% of dairy products this year. Not really feeling anything yet, but I will.

Well, giving up fast food, sodas, red meat, dairy, eatic organic, can be called healthy, by so far I have not seen a person eating healthy, licing 150 years. They also get sick...

If you canmake yourself feel good, fine.

Karen, LOL! Me too, but I had a water before I had the soda, and I'm weaning off of soda pop!

Jon, I't's all about feeling better, and better health. I imagine if we lived 150 years, we must have stayed fairly healthy, I doubt that will ever happen tho. Who Knows?! The longest living person on record lived to be 122 years, 164 days! Whew! My TERM Life Insurance will run out before then! LOL!

Thanks so much Sharon. I'm struggling to drink the water in place of Pepsi. But, it's my goal, so I will achieve it! :)

Cheryl,

This has to be true for most of us, I'm sure. I'll check out your website suggestion.  BTW I love all you color pics and graphics. What program are you using to make them??

Hi Larry, Please do check the website, I really love it for keeping track or just checking out food values.

I do most of my pics in Adobe Photoshop, or use the FREE pics and clipart available on the web.

Photobucket has a TON of free stuff we can use, if you are a member it "provides other Users, the right to copy, distribute, publicly perform, publicly display, reproduce and create derivative works from it via the Site or third party websites or applications."   So I get most of my pics from there that I don't make myself. Or I change them up and edit them to make them fit my needs.
