What People Don't Think About

By
Real Estate Agent with Kim Wilbourn Realty

Well, I would like to start off saying that I am a REALTOR and this is my job, and I don't do this for my health. I guess most people just think we don't do anything at all. I got a call this morning a FSBO wanted me to come talk to her about listing her property, I was getting everything ready to go to be able to present a listing presentation, and then the phone rings and she says she is going to list with another company and if I had a buyer to call that company.

WHAT!!! Oh no! It is a good thing that I have a focused mind, and can tell myself to stay motivated. It seems like nothing is going right for me, and everything is falling throught the cracks. I guess since all of this is happening to me I can blog more, and read all the good ActiveRain comment. Anyone else having any problems?

I know!  Some people think we do this as charity work.  I have much better organizations to do charity work for than FSBOs...and people much more deserving!

Kim,  Before and after all is said:  This is a numbers game.  Go do something which will put you in front of people - you know what that means for you.  Each" No "  puts you one closer to the next  " Yes "  !

I really hope so. I have been doing this for 2 1/2 years now, and sometimes I think I would just like to go back to the 9-5 job!

Kim,

I respectfully disagree with the terminology here. Realtor is not my job. Selling real estate is a job of an agent, or a broker. Being a Realtor means the affiliation, and whether you have it or not is a different story.

Of course, you can call yourself a Realtor (if you are a member). For whatever reason the affiliation makes a lot of people proud.

I personally never do it even though I am a Realtor.

Good luck

Kim,

That happens to most real estate agents--I had two sellers call me this week to cancel the appointment they set with me last week.  Of course, I had the information all pulled together--but  just makes me more knowledgeable the next time.  I simply say, NEXT, and move on.  Chin up!

I guess that is all you can do, but it does get frustrating, and aggravating. I thought about giving a class on REALTORS-DON"T DO THIS FOR OUR HEALTH!

This happens to everyone, but it's still hard to brush it off after you have put in hours of work.  I agree with Norma that you'll be more in tune with the market and the methods the next time you get the call for a listing.   Remember that nothing is sure in this business until the check is in your hand!  Good luck, and I know your next listing is just around the corner!

I know I have to keep my chin up, and move onto the next business. I know it will work out in the end.

Hi Kim,  lets see I have been working on a listing for a year and a half.  Finely she is ready, I have been doing all the leg work and had holding. I showed her the comps. She wants to list for 30k to 40k more then it will sell for. I just wont over list, so I told her to check with another company.   Nothing I can do

I don't blame you either. I wouldn't take the listing either. I am sure she will find some sucker to do it though!
