WHAT DO ALL THOSE LETTERS AFTER YOUR NAME MEAN? Did you know that November is REALTOR® Designation Awareness Month?
As REALTORS®, education is an important part of our careers, because it enables us to keep up with our ever-changing, ever-evolving industry. Not only can those little letters after our names bring us more business in the form of referrals, but they are a positive thing to strive toward and classes and courses are a great way to network and expand our web of referral contacts.
Those little letters can often be confusing to our clientele, however, who may not know a CRS from CRV (that's a Honda, in case you're wondering!).
It can start looking a bit like a jumbled-up bowl of alphabet soup, lots of random letters, all lined up with no apparent meaning.
So I'd like to take this opportunity - this REALTOR® Designation Awareness Month - to help make our clients and the general public aware of our REALTOR® designations and their meanings.
For a complete list of NAR (National Association of REALTORS®) Professional Designations and Certifications and their meanings, please click here. You can also access the individual websites for each designation/certification through this page to get more information about each one.
And for us REALTORS®, let's take this opportunity this month to focus on our own education. Start planning your educational goals for 2008 and set goals - are there specific designations that you've been thinking about getting or already working on that you want to complete in 2008? Write it down as a goal and make it happen! It's not too early to start planning for 2008 now!
And to practice what I preach, here's my #1 goal: to complete my CRS certification in 2008. Now that I've made that declaration, I sure as heck had better stick to it!
