As a home inspector I have had a great deal of time to think about how life is like a house. Confused? Let me explain..............
The foundation of my house is my faith. No building ever constructed has stood the test of time unless it was built with a solid foundation. How is your foundation?
The cornerstone of my "house" is my family. A building needs a starting point, the cornerstone is the first block laid when a building is constructed. How good is your cornerstone? Is it straight? Is it level?
The bricks are the next item in my "house" These are the people that I met every day of my life, each brick adds to the structure. The average person meets over 10,000 people in their lifetime. The mortar that hold s the bricks together is how I treat these people. Weak mortar will crumble. Over time, your building will fall down. You need strong ethics and morals to make good "mortar". How strong is your "mortar"?
In my house there are many rooms, each represents a different phase in my life, each room is filed with many wonderful memories, and a few not so nice memories. But as in life the good usually outweighs the bad.
As I am getting older now there are not many new rooms to discover, and I know that some day my "house" will be complete. It is then I will be able to sit on the roof and gaze at the sunset with all my family and friends that have gone before me. My "house" will last forever. Will yours?
